Lovely garden and relatively well maintain.

This garden is a mixture between garden and forest with lots of trees.

Azalea and rhododendrons gardens are especially beautiful. We went on Sunday afternoon, and it was still a bit foggy. There weren't too many people visiting this garden so it was really tranquil.

It cost 90 baht to enter, and i think it was well worth it. My 70+ year old mother can manage the walk fine with a bit of help from time to time, so it is an easy walk. It took us 2 hours at a very slow pace, so i think it would take less than 1 hour for most to explore the whole area.

The road to the garden is a bit narrow and steep but well maintained. Unless you are new to driving on a mountain, most will manage just fine. But you are looking for a place to escape the crowd then this is the spot.

There are a few interesting places to visit nearby such as Doi Chang Moob military lookout post which overlook the mountain range between Thai and Myanmar as well as Pha Hee and Pha...

Interesting, I visited this place on a combination ticket I bought at Doi Tung Palace Gardens. I think Thai people are much more attracted to places with lots of flowers because the Palace Gardens were quite busy, but I was the only person for the whole time I spent at the Arboretum. The place is lovely spreading either side of the hill connected by a short tunnel. Different to the Palace Gardens, more wild and natural with just a small area cultivated with flowers. Do not miss passing through the tunnel to the other side and walking up the steep path. You have two great viewpoints here. One looks back east into Thailand, the other West (perfect for sunset viewing) where you can see both Thailand and Myanmar (North West). But for the best view of Myanmar carry on along the road another kilometer to the miltary outpost. The border turns north there so you have full views from the hillside into Myanmar unobstructed...

Very beautiful gardens! We went at the end of the day and to be honest we think the staff was a bit disappointed to see us as they were ready to close earlier (we were alone there...), but they let us enter and then left... There are beautiful flowers and trees, and we loved the view at sunset! It's a perfect complement of the royal villa Doi Tung gardens' visit. We didn't feel it was too much to visit both, and I would recommend not to skip it. Definitely buy the combo ticket for the villa, gardens and arboretum! Peaceful and lovely for photos or just...

Be aware before you go: this should be done in conjunction with the much more popular Doi Tung area further south on Google Maps. This is a 10 minute drive from the main area and is only about a 30 minute stroll through some absolutely beautiful plants and flowers. It's certainly worth seeing, but if you're going up the mountain make sure to do the other Doi Tung area first. There is also a cool elephant rock shrine on the other side of the parking lot.
