Woodland Museum Resort for me is the real big deal of wood antique craft museum ever in Thailand. The scales of their space was gigantic which is about 16 hectare, also provide the tourists with resorts and café. Everything was nearly perfect except the air condition in the museum, which is open on weekend only(Fri-Sun). You can also see the “Boabab” trees all over the landscape. The owner imported the trees from Africa on decades ago. And you can purchase the Baobab young plant back to your country too. The “Boabab” is the ancient tree and very quickly grow rate than other normal tree. The biggest one might be 42 adults cuddle size.
The café house was chic and cool in early 1970 stlye building. The atmosphere around the place so incredible nice. By along side of the Nakhon Chai Sri river, you can sit at the terrace to take the breath from the river wind. It was so nice. There are many of coffee and beverage, cake and dessert to service. I recommend you to try Thai food here, you'll be surprise!!! The portion of the food quite a lot bigger than normal and the taste was terrific. The food&beverage price was reasonable. And the best thing is every 50 Baht of spending. You can get 1 ticket of the museum entrance for free(The Ticket was 300 Baht in normal price. But now they open free entrance for everyone!!!)
On the other hands, The Museum was separate in many building in the land yard. There are many category of the woodcrafts by type and religions. The first one building was showing the biggest Royal portrait woodcraft of King Bhumipol. In this building there are Landscape model of the Woodland Museum Resort and Thai Royal Family Portait in woodcraft too. The second one building is the Main Museum, inside there are tons of every kind of woodcraft showing at the 1st and 2nd floor. By my sight they have at least more than ten thousand pieces. Which is also antique and inestimable.
I recommend tourists to visit the museum in week day. The atmosphere so much better than the weekend. You can feel the silence and the solitudinous. It’s going incredible well with the antique craft.
So this unseen place is very worthy to visit...
Read moreAmazing place!! Incredible carvings, some very interesting pieces, especially the Khmer full size carvings, similar to the terracotta army but pretty ladies instead of killers. B100 to get in for both my Thai wife & I(British), which was nice. I probably wouldn't pay any more than that though. Nice cafe by the river. We visited on a Wednesday lunchtime and we were the only people there, we had the whole place to ourselves, but as it's the monsoon season it was boiling up into an evening of rain, it was absolutely sweltering there! If other people were there we probably would have become a bit hot and bothered by kids/selfies/the braindead, but we managed a couple of hours and thoroughly enjoyed the place! I'll take my Mum there later in the year, but only if it's still B100. I'll also recommend it to all of my friends & family, but again, only if it remains at B100, its fair value at that price. Kudos to the owner/curator though, apart from a few ugly varnished animal sculptures, almost everything is natural-looking...
