Prasat Ban Bu Yai

Location: Ban Bu Yai, Sung Noen, Sung Noen District, Nakhon Ratchasima

GPS coordinates (WGS84): N 14.882975, E 101.865643

Prasat Ban Bu Yai is also known as Prasat Sila Laeng.

The site is located at the back of Bu Yai School, over the years the site has deteriorated the sandstone blocks which once formed the “Prasat” are now scattered over a 50m area. It would be a time consuming job to try and reconstruct the jigsaw puzzle as it now stands.

Archeological evidence shows that supports that this was once a Khmer sanctuary constructed around 11th – 13th century A.D. Some engraving was noted on some of the sandstone blocks included lotus flowers and typical Khmer architecture. A lone sandstone Buddha statue looks over the fallen...
