A great piece of jungle, but the way it is embraced is not appropriate. The foreigner are asked to pay 400 BHT for entry (200 BHT for child) while the locals 30 BHT (20 BHT for child). That is so racist! Falangs are cows to be milked and they are so much more than Thai people, is that what you say? What a disgrace. Still it is not the foreigners who throws plastic around. Moreover, the entry is for a single day, we came for 5 days.....so count. And at the entry after paying you are told in very bad English that you are not allowed to enter the forest.... We came for the forest, come on! Fortunately, the forest is large and you can enter it from other villages around freely without any barriers, just walk through the fields or rubber plantations and you can get inside the edge of the dense wild thing. There we saw plenty of animals including slow lorises at night, monkeys, snakes, frogs and lizards. We fed the mosquitos and the leeches, too.

Bala forest in Southern Thailand. A tropical rain forest, a tourist attraction and home for many bird species including hornbills. A worth watch. An area very close to Malaysia. Take precautions for leeches and ticks. So many checking points of police and military from Narathiwat to Halabala due to Domestic terrorist incidents to Thailand's four southernmost provinces, the scene of a longstanding separatist conflict between ethno-nationalist Malay Muslim insurgent groups and the central Thai government.
