Naga fireballs viewing point Wat Thai — Attraction in Nong Khai Province

Famous for 'mysterious fireballs' rising from the Mekong once a year. The Naga Fireballs are described glowing orbs or balls of fire that rise from the river and shoot into the sky. These fireballs are said to be reddish-orange and vary in size, ranging from small sparks to large balls of fire. They typically emerge from the water's surface with a hissing sound before disappearing into the sky. Local folklore attributes the Naga Fireballs to the mythical serpent-like creatures known as Naga, believed to inhabit the Mekong River. According to legend, the Naga breathe fire to celebrate the return of the Buddha to heaven after his rainy season retreat.

Fireballs of Naga can be seen only one day a year on this Fire Naga Festival. Other information is fake, don't believe it. No other dates or places. I have no idea why someone wrote two days ago that they saw fire balls - the festival took place at 10 October 2022 and there was NO fireballs - local Thai girls said us that. There is no taxi to Nonghai after 19:00 or even earlier - we stuck there. So really, really think about the way you will come back and ask your driver to pick you up back.
