Visited Khai Nai Island as part of a tour package, and it was an interesting experience. The island itself looks like something straight out of a movie—beautiful white sand, clear waters, and picturesque views. However, like many tourist destinations, it’s overly commercialized. Drinks and food are overpriced, so I’d recommend sticking to whatever’s included in your tour package.
My package included snorkeling masks, which was a plus. The water is crystal clear and great for snorkeling, but I have to admit it can get boring after a while. That said, be cautious of sea urchins while snorkeling. They’re quite dangerous if you’re not careful, and there have been incidents of people getting injured. Getting pricked by one is definitely not fun and could ruin the experience.
The heat was intense, making it hard to relax on the beach, so dipping into the ocean was the best way to cool off. One thing to watch out for: a lot of the seats and other amenities are not free and require rental fees. Always ask first before using anything to avoid unexpected charges.
Overall, the island is a nice part of the tour. The views are fantastic, and it’s a good spot to take in the beauty of the ocean. Just be mindful of the commercialization, hidden costs, and sea urchins if you’re snorkeling. Enjoy what’s included in your package and don’t expect too much...
Read moreIt is obvious why many label this place as a tourist trap. You get harassed by hustlers almost immediately after stepping off the boat, who attempt to usher you to the umbrella-shaded deckchairs or get you to ride a jetski (1,000 baht)
We arrived at mid-afternoon when the sun was scorching and had no choice but to head to the shaded chairs since there was no other shade available on the beach. We knew that we had to order food or drinks to use the chairs but didn't expect to be slapped with 5-star prices 💸 150 baht for coconut, 200 - 300 baht for other drinks. Pad Thai costs 250 baht! 😂🤣
Why 4 stars then? Judging from the reviews of those who have seen the other quieter parts of the island, it is unfair to base the review on the infamous part of the island when there are obviously much better parts and I would like to provide an unbiased review which acknowledges that while highlighting the issues that need to be addressed (You can only review Khai Nai ISLAND as a whole and not just the main beach itself) The other parts of the island look great and I hope to visit them while avoiding the main...
Read moreKhai Nai Island is a nice little stop on the way to Phi Phi Island, offering a variety of activities and a beautiful setting. The island has jet skis, a beach for swimming, a bar, and other tourist activities that make it a fun place to visit. However, be prepared for the constant pressure from the locals trying to charge you for everything – from a chair to sit on (200 BHT) to an old, barely functional jet ski (1200 BHT).
While the island itself is decent and the scenery is lovely, it’s hard to ignore the constant attempts to nickel-and-dime you. The locals can be very persistent, approaching you at every turn, which can become frustrating. It's like the Thai mosquitoes – you won’t have a moment of peace without someone trying to sell you something.
If you can tune out the constant sales pitches and focus on enjoying the island, you’ll likely have a good time. However, the aggressive up-selling definitely detracts from the overall experience. So, while the island is worth a visit, be aware that it's not as relaxing as you might hope due to the...
