Doi Phu Nang National Park — Attraction in Phayao Province

Important routing advice: If you are coming from Phayao (just over an hour's drive), gps will guide you right in to the park, but if you come from Lampang, gps will have you exit highway 1 near Mae Wa, and this route eventually ends up on a dirt road with 40 km still to go. Continue north on highway 1 to highway 120 and come in that way.

That said, this was a nice park. Entry was 100 thb plus 30 for a car. Main attraction is the waterfall, which I will review separately. Camping here looks peaceful. There's a snack bar and a restaurant, although I had trouble getting someone's attention there and eventually gave up on getting a coffee. There's also a short nature trail, 1.3 km loop which took my less than 30 minutes to walk. Not that interesting of a walk, but good for exercise if you have the time. Trail starts above the first aid house and ends near the snack bar. And speaking of the first aid house, they seem to be safety conscious here. Spanning nearly 860 km² across Phayao Province, Doi Phu Nang National Park protects diverse ecosystems from highland forests to fertile river valleys. The park’s highlight includes the Than Sawan Waterfall, Doi Phu Nang Peak (1,202 m), and Thailand’s largest breeding ground for green peafowl (January–March).

Visitors can explore forested trails, enjoy riverside waterfalls, and observe unique wildlife. Facilities include a ranger-run visitor centre, restrooms, campgrounds, and basic lodging—though food and gear should be brought along.

Open daily 08:30–16:30, with modest entrance fees. Most favorable visit period is October through January.

สวยงามครับผม มีโอกาสจะไปเที่ยวอีก สำหรับคนที่บ่นเรื่องค่าธรรมเนียมเข้าอุทยานนะครับ พระราชบัญญัติอุทยานแห่งชาติ พ.ศ.2504 ได้ระบุไว้แล้วใน หมวด 4 มาตรา 23 วรรคหนึ่ง ความดังว่า

"ถ้าเห็นเป็นการสมควรให้ประชาชนชําระเงิน เนื่องในการที่พนักงานเจ้าหน้าที่ให้บริการหรือให้ความสะดวกต่างๆ ในอุทยานแห่งชาติหรือให้บุคคลใดเสียค่าธรรมเนียมหรือค่าตอบแทนสําหรับการที่ได้รับอนุญาตให้ดําเนินกิจการหรือพักอาศัยอยู่ในอุทยานแห่งชาติ อธิบดีมีอํานาจกําหนดอัตราและวางระเบียบเกี่ยวกับการเก็บค่าบริการค่าธรรมเนียมหรือค่าตอบแทนดังกล่าวได้ ทั้งนี้โดยอนุมัติของรัฐมนตรี"

ซึ่งแน่นอนว่าทางอุทยานได้ปฏิบัติตามข้อความที่ระบุไว้ในพระราชบัญญัตินั้น ซึ่งแต่ละอุทยานก็จะมีราคาที่ต่างกันไป และในบางอุทยานก็ไม่มีการเก็บค่าธรรมเนียมใด ๆ ก็มีเช่นกัน ซึ่งขึ้นอยู่กับอธิบดีที่เป็นผู้กำหนด ในส่วนนี้ผมเข้าใจว่ารายได้เหล่านี้จะถูกนำไปใช้ในการทำนุบำรุงรักษาอุทยานให้คงสภาพที่ดี สะอาด ครบครัน ปลอดภัย ดังนั้นการที่จะมาเที่ยวอุทยานฯ แล้วมาบ่นกับค่าธรรมเนียมเหล่านี้ ทางที่ดีผมว่าคุณเที่ยวอย่างอื่นก็ได้ครับ ยังมีสถานที่อื่น ๆ อีกมากที่ไม่เสียค่าด่าน ค่ารถ ถ้าคุณรู้จักวางแผนและศึกษาข้อมูลก่อนเดินทาง...
