Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Center — Attraction in Phetchaburi Province

No animal deserves a life like this. A large bear, trapped in a dirty, 4m x 4m enclosure without water, is visibly distressed. Baby monkeys are kept apart from their mothers in tiny cages. Other monkeys, driven mad by prolonged captivity, rage within their cages. A young elephant is 'disciplined with a hook-ended stick while secured to the ground by a 3m long chain. Many of the other animals are kept alone in enclosures far too small, with no grass or other foliage to emulate their natural habitats. I cannot believe anyone would give this place anything other than the lowest possible review - have you no empathy whatsoever? Many of these animals would be better off dead than forced to endure the sad existence that they're subjected to in these lifeless, cold cages. An absolutely heart-breaking disgrace. Shame on anyone who has condoned or ignored...

I recently visited the Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Center Zoo and had a truly unique experience. The center, focusing on the conservation and breeding of local wildlife, offers an insightful glimpse into Thailand’s diverse fauna. The enclosures, while not overly spacious, appeared well-maintained, and the animals seemed healthy. สวนสัตว์ห้วยทราย หรือสถานีเพาะเลี้ยงและขยายสัตว์ป่าห้วยทราย เป็นหนึ่งในศูนย์การพัฒนาห้วยทรายที่จัดตั้งอยู่ในเขตอำเภอชะอำ จังหวัดเพชรบุรี โดยสวนสัตว์แห่งนี้เป็นพื้นที่พัฒนาอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวรัชกาลที่ 9 โปรดเกล้าฯ ให้จัดตั้งขึ้น และมีพื้นที่อยู่ที่ 15,880 ไร่โดยประมาณ อีกทั้งยังเป็นศูนย์พัฒนาที่ให้ความรู้ในด้านของเกษตรกรรม มีการมุ่งเน้นไปที่การปลูกป่าเพื่อฟื้นฟูสภาพของป่าให้มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ ต่อมาจึงได้มีพระราชดำริในการขยายพันธุ์เนื้อทราย ซึ่งเป็นสัตว์ประจำถิ่นที่สามารถนำมาปล่อยกลับคืนสู่ป่าดังเดิมได้ และนี่เป็นที่มาจากสวนสัตว์ห้วยทรายในปัจจุบันที่ สวนสัตว์ห้วยทราย เป็นสวนสัตว์ที่มีสัตว์ป่าแปลกๆ หาชมได้ยากหลายชนิด ยกตัวอย่างเช่น หมี, ละอง, ละมั่ง, กวาง, เนื้อทราย, นกยูง, ไก่ฟ้าหลังขาว, เก้ง, เลียงผา, นาก, เหยี่ยวแดง, นางอาย, นกตะกรุม, เป็ดแดง, นกเงือก, นกกระทุง, นกกาฮัง และนกพิราบหงอนวิคตอเรีย เป็นต้น นักท่องเที่ยวสามารถที่จะเลือกชมและให้อาหารสัตว์ป่าเหล่านี้ได้ และไฮไลท์สำคัญที่บริเวณสุดทางเข้านักท่องเที่ยวจะพบเจอกับเกาะชะนี ที่อยู่ด้านหลังของกรงนกเงือก ที่บริเวณนี้จะมีชะนีหลากหลายพันธุ์วิ่งเล่น ห้อยโหน และใช้ชีวิตอย่างอิสระ สามารถเข้าไปนั่งที่ม้านั่งหรือชิงช้าที่บริเวณใกล้ๆ นั้นได้ ไม่ต้องกังวลเรื่องอันตรายเพราะที่นี่มีเจ้าหน้าที่คอยดูแลอย่างทั่วถึงทุกจุด การเดินทางมาที่สวนสัตว์ห้วยทราย หรือสถานีเพาะเลี้ยงและขยายสัตว์ป่าห้วยทราย สามารถเดินทางมาได้ด้วยรถโดยสารประจำทางและรถยนต์ส่วนตัว แต่เพื่อความสะดวกสบายแนะนำเดินทางด้วยรถยนต์ส่วนตัวและทำการปักหมุดใน Google Map เป็นชื่อสถานที่จะสะดวกกว่า โดยสวนสัตว์แห่งนี้เปิดให้สามารถเข้าชมได้ฟรีทุกวัน และจะเปิดให้เข้าชมได้ตั้งแต่เวลา...
