Wat Aranyik Phitsanulok — Attraction in Phitsanulok Province

A historical temple from about 650 years ago with interesting back story. It was burned down by the Burmese during their invasion.

Only small parts of the original ruin is left.

Almost no visitors at all, the temple area is surrounded by a moat which may hint at it's importance some years ago.

In Ayutthaya, they collect fees to upkeep this type of ancient ruins. Here is free entrance. It is a beautiful structure. In a rural area, upkeeping is a problem without financial support. I walked the whole ruins area....

Unfortunately the area around the ancient chedi is no better than a rundown slum, the Abbott and the monks residing should be utterly ashamed of themselves and should get off their collective arses and sort out some...
