It's worth going from Hat Yai and you can loop back around Songkhla Lake and Koh Yo Island. It makes a good day trip. Or if going from Phattalung to Hat Yai it's definitely worth stopping - only a 1km detour. I wouldn't visit from any further away, personally.
There's the standard short walk up which is kind of in the middle of various karst like rock formations. And if you have a bit of time to wander around and scramble up and down slopes there are ropes leading up some of the other rock faces, I'm sure you could get to the top of many of them without climbing equipment but wouldn't be easy. Near the entrance, there are street vendors. From the entrance to the top, it takes about 20-30 minutes. The paths are a bit rocky and rough, and a pair of hiking shoes can make your hike much easier. There are a couple places where you might want to grab the ropes on your way up for safety reasons. If you work out now and then, this short hike should not be a problem.
The view on the top is breathtaking. Don't miss out on this place. It‘s...
