What an honor it is to be able to review our FOURTH visit to Elephantstay!!!My husband and I have been visiting Elephantstay since 2017 and have brought our children on the last two trips. We initially came for the elephants, but we continue to return for the community, culture, and compassion of everyone who lives and works in the village. When you're at the Kraal, you truly belong, and there is nothing else like it. Each visit, we have been blessed with the opportunity to learn about the culture, Asian elephants, and to have a hands-on experience of getting to know the elephants in a very real way. This past trip exceeded our wildest imaginations because we were fortunate to witness the birth of twins! At 9:05PM on a Friday evening, Lexi came to our rooms to inform us that a baby had been born. We arrived just in time to see Jumjuree give birth to the second elephant about 10 minutes later. Celebrating the miraculous birth of the twins was an unforgettable experience, and we still can't believe how incredibly lucky we were to be there. Over the next few days, we celebrated not only with the village but also with the greater community, as many people came to make merit and pray for blessings for the twins. Words cannot fully express the sense of community we felt during our visit. Elephantstay is truly a place where you can find a sense of belonging when you immerse yourself in the environment. Michelle, Ewa, and Lexi work incredibly hard to give all their guests a truly personal experience. The mahouts and the rest of the elephant staff are so friendly and inclusive that it is easy to forget that most of us don't speak the same language. Bonds are formed through laughter, washing produce together, playing with the children, and caring for the elephants. Words are not needed where camaraderie exists. Thank you all so much for an absolutely amazing two weeks! You have given us such a gift, and we can't wait to come back and see you all again soon!

What an absolutely AMAZING experience! I spent an unforgettable few days at Elephant Stay to learn, care for and get hands-on experience taking care of these beautiful creatures. My elephant, Rumruay, a 50+ year old beauty and I got to meet each other the very first day. For me, this was a bucket-list item to live on-site and feed, wash, and ride her to feed, and water her in the river. Michelle and Ewa were gracious hosts who are passionate about the health, education, safety and preservation of these animals. I got a first-hand account of history of these animals, the care and everyday hard work of the mahouts, the health and welfare of these intelligent creatures. And, just how instrumental they were in the local recovery efforts of remains in the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. If you want to learn more about the work, check out The Last Mahout - about the plight of these Asian elephants. Better yet, I highly recommend spending a couple of days/nights at Elephant Stay with Michelle and Ewa. The food was very good, the company was fun, educational, and insightful. I cannot wait to go back! Thank you again making my first trip to Thailand a memorable one! Please give Runruay a hug for me!!

From the moment I arrived at Elephantstay, I knew that my first visit here would not be my last. Lexi, Michelle and Ewa generously share their knowledge and love of the elephants they care for and, as a working visitor, we got to see and help in their quest to provide these magnificent creatures with a safe and nurturing home. Assisting with all aspects of the elephants care during our stay, I genuinely miss the sweeping and feeding and watering as much as I miss interacting with the hilarious and oh so sweet calves and their mums. Watching the rare tiny twins grow stronger day by day was a privilege and the love and educated care they receive 24/7 from mahouts, local villager’s, visitors and their personal vet was truly heart warming. I loved every sweaty, dirty second and am so grateful to have found this elephant haven. I will miss the people, the elephants and the food equally! And will definitely be returning soon, thanks for an unforgettable experience & all you do🩶

Elephantstay is an amazing place. Working with the elephants is hard work but experiencing the day to day care that is given to these beautiful animals is so incredible. Getting to know and understand the Thai culture is so interesting. I love this place, that’s why I have been here six times and will be coming again. The food is traditional Thai and is alway great. The accommodation is comfortable with air conditioning. I was lucky to witness the 24 hour care and dedication that was given to the twin elephants born over a month ago. It was great to see them go from strength to strength every day. Thank you Elephantstay for caring for all these elephants and educating us about the Thai culture.

There’s around 10-15 elephants in different sizes and ages. You can buy small and big basket of food and feed the elephants also take photos or videos. The price for food basket 50-200 bat (not expensive). All elephants on a chain for the safety of visitors. Recommend for visit, especially with kids :)
