Tham Le Khao Kob Cave: A Breathtaking Exploration of Thailand's Natural Beauty

Rating:

• Natural Beauty: 5/5 (Stunning stalactites and stalagmites, with unique formations and a flowing stream) • Adventure & Exploration: 4.5/5 (Thrilling boat ride, narrow passages, and a memorable "dragon's backbone" experience) • Value: 4/5 (Affordable entry fee and boat tours, offering excellent value for money) • Overall Experience: 4.5/5 (An unforgettable journey into Thailand's natural wonders, perfect for those who enjoy adventure)

Overall: 4.5/5

Alright folk, Donkey and I, along with our group of friends, were on a road trip from Krabi to Danok in Thailand. We decided to stop by Tham Le Khao Kob Cave for those in our group who hadn't visited before. Some of our friends had already been here, but we were happy to join them and experience this incredible cave together. The ticket price was very affordable, and we were all excited to explore. We rented two boats for our group of eight, costing 300 baht per boat.

The cave is truly unique, with a flowing stream running through it, and the experienced boatmen navigated the narrow passages expertly. The cave's impressive stalactites and stalagmites are a breathtaking sight, with formations resembling elephant feet and even the iconic Hin Ta Hin Yai rocks, similar to those found at Lamai Beach in Koh Samui.

The four-stage boat tour was a highlight. We started with a boat ride to the entrance, followed by a walk through the cave, and concluded with another boat ride to the exit. The final boat journey was especially memorable as we navigated a narrow passage known as the "dragon's backbone," which is said to bring good luck. The cave walls felt so close when we lay down. It was like they were touching our noses and it was an exciting and unique experience. After exiting the cave, they offered us photos they had taken of us on the boat which was a nice touch.

This cave is a must visit for anyone seeking an adventurous and memorable exploration of Thailand's natural beauty. However, it's important to note that the cave's narrow passages and low ceilings might be challenging for those with claustrophobia. And while entry is free, a boat tour (300 THB per boat, accommodating up to 5 people) is essential to experience the full beauty of the cave.

Overall, we had an incredible time at Tham Le Khao Kob Cave. The stunning formations, the thrilling boat ride, and the unique atmosphere make this a truly unforgettable experience in Thailand. We highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys exploring hidden gems and discovering...

WOW, what an experience - but not for the faint hearted.

Having been at 'Tham Nam Yen' caves in Phatthalung, we thought this would be more of the same. But WOW this place is at a completely another level. First, it's much bigger and longer Second, and most importantly: It's much, much more narrow and lower. You really have to watch your head to avoid hitting the top. Not recommended for those that are even mildly claustrophobic.

The tour starts with a 5 minutes rowboat ride along an open riverside towards the cave entrance. Once at the cave entrance the guide will ask you to lay flat: "go sleep" the beginning of this cave is similar to 'Tham Nam Yen', but that's when resemblances end. Here, after a short ride there is a place to get out of the boat and walk on a well made path through the cave to admire the different stalactite and stalactite formations, there's also a temple in the mid-section. Once back on the boat we thought that we'll take the same way out, but oh boy – little did we know what was waiting for us next. Instead of taking the wide channel that we came in on, we took a turn to a very narrow and very, very low route through the cave that was so tight that the boat was frequently scraping against the rocks on both sides and the guide in the front had to lay down flat and push ourselves forward pushing his hands against the top of the ceiling. Not exaggerating: sometimes it felt that there was less than 10cm (4") clearance between the tips of our noses and the stalactites. It was definitely an exciting, adrenaline pumping experience. Once I edited the video I will share the link in this review.

The cost is 300B per boat, max 3 passengers. The price is the same for Foreigners and Thai (compliments to this operator for not practicing discriminating...
