Good that they lowered the price to 200B, it would not be worth more than that!
We actually decided, before coming to the park, that we would NEVER spend 400B each. Dual pricing in Thailand is discriminating, 10 times the local price is just unacceptable. Confirmed, it’s now 200B per foreigner. We were not charged any fee for the car (at many national parks it’s an additional 30B ). There was no option to pay by Thai QR PromptPay - bring cash!
We arrived around 7:30 after the sunrise but before it got busy, and enjoyed walking down to the wall paintings, which are unfortunately not all accessible beyond stage 2 (maybe that’s why the lowered the entrance fee?) Station 1 is small and nothing special, but station 2 is nice with many well-preserved drawings. They are rather primitive though. Actually, it came to my mind if this all might be a recent prank and some local school kids were just having some fun pretending they were caveman 3000 years ago - 555.
Note: the ticket is valid for 1 day, and includes Soi Sawan & Sang Chan Waterfalls. Each are 20-30 minutes’ drive north on national road 2112 and have different park entrances, not connected to each other...
Read moreFor foreigners the entrance fee has been reduced to 200 baht. A couple things to remember: 1) It’s a very large national park with no paved inner roads connecting visitors to the various sites. You must drive outside the park each time on the two lane rural highway 2112 then drive on poorly maintained roads to get to the sites except for the “main entrance” which takes you to the Headquarters which has free maps and information ( Thai & English) of the park. There is also a small exhibit about the park and a nice coffee shop overlooking the Mekong The picturesque trail to the wall paintings is here. 2) The entrance & parking ticket does cover entrance to the other sites 3) Unfortunately the ancient wall paintings are eroding/ fading away ( not so spectacular) but the trail around the rock cliff is beautiful -worth the hike if you’re in physical shape 4) There are local vendors selling water & sodas at these 3 sites or along highway 2112. 5) Interesting this park was established in 1991. 6) Not much wild...

For me It's like they tried to told the story of their life to someone or something to find it later (my father had the theory that they do it before leaving the place because of drought , because they rest their hands on the cliff and blow the paint on it to create hands print, our guide say they have about 200 handprint)
Walking in this path could lead you to Pha chana dai
