Flower Garden at Susan Mai Dok Mueang NAO Betong (Yala province) is a beautiful scenic flower garden up on the hills of Betong, in the Yala province in South Thailand. Although it's a bit of ride from the Yala city to the garden, thus requiring private transportation, however, the trip is worth the effort, and the money spent. The trip is worth the money, especially if you make a stop at the hot springs (free entrance) on your way to the garden or on your way back or first start your trip by visiting the Microwave Mountain (free entrance) early in the morning.
In December, the cool and chilly winds from the hills make it a perfect place for a stroll at anytime of the day, or even grab a hot tea/coffee and enjoy a good book at one of the coffee shops near the entrance. You still get a really good view from the coffee shops. Don't forget to bring a scarf or a light sweater in case if it's too chilly for your liking (depending on the time of the year).
A wide variety of colourful flowers makes it an ideal place for any photography enthusiasts, for family education on flowers, or for couples looking for a romantic stroll in a garden. It's not crowded at all.
A small entrance fee of about 20-25 baht (less than US $1) per person is charged (regardless of being a local or a foreign tourist). This fee and the "same price for all" policy is another good thing compared to other tourist attractions in Thailand where foreign tourists are charged about 5 times or 400% of the entrance fee/price charged to locals.
To make the trip more memorable and worthwhile start the trip by visiting the "Micro Mist Viewing Point,” or the "Aiyoe Weng Mist Viewing Point” on the Microwave Mountain (also in Betong, Yala) early morning (preferably before 7:00 am) and enjoy the scenic view of the "sea of fog" and beautiful scenery. After that visit the flower garden. And on your way back make a stop at the Betong Hot Water Spring, soak your feet in the spring and relax. You could also try boiling eggs in the hot spring and enjoying it.
The garden has coffee shops and properly maintained and clean (relative term) public (free) toilets.
Negative Points Not all flowers are labeled and even those that are labeled mostly have labels written in Thai. Some flowers do have the scientific name written in English, though not the common English name.
Some seasonal flowers may not be booming, depending on the time of the year.

Read moreDue to poor signals from the telcos provider, we lost direction on google maps and arrived almost at closing time. This place closed at 5.00pm, we couldn't get access into the park and managed to linger around, snap a few quite shots of the place. Surrounding looks pretty quiet probably was closing time, noticed nothing much, only a souvenir shop, a cafeteria, a large pond with lots of tilapia fishes and a garden. There are accommodations available for rental, no other attractions that warrant your stay unless you would like to have plenty of peace and quiet within. It's located in the middle of nowhere miles away from Betong town, the road here is very winding with quite a number of steep climbs and decendings. My personal opinion as regards to visiting here, am rather disappointed and not sattisfied with what was on offer. Nothing thrilling noted, would bored you to death unless you are the quiet type that does not need any form of entertainment. Not for me, payment required to gain entrance into the park. If you like flowers maybe it will suits you fine. Me, I am off to...
Read moreI absolutely fell in love with this place! The garden is full of vibrant flowers — a dream spot for nature lovers and photo enthusiasts. I could honestly spend hours here just walking, taking pictures, or even sketching.
The entrance fee is 120 baht per person, and it's worth every cent. There's plenty of parking available. While walking is possible, we chose to take the buggy, which stops at several scenic points — perfect for photo-taking and enjoying the view at a relaxed pace.
The garden also has a cozy café that serves delicious coffee. There are lots of Instagrammable spots, so if you're into OOTD photos, you're going to love it here.
On our way down, we passed a small vegetable farm where fresh salad is grown. The buggy driver was kind enough to stop and let us have a look — and you can even buy some if you’d like. The staff were very friendly, and I imagine if you can speak Thai, you could have long, lovely chats with them.
This place is truly a must-visit when you're in Betong — peaceful, colorful, and filled with beauty at...
