A really beautiful reserve that does really important conservation work.

Do rent binoculars and do get a guide to take you round. Make sure you ask lots of questions, once our guide gave up on his set schpeel his passion for his work shone through.

The reserve includes one of the last patches of Gambian rainforest. Gambian rainforests are different because the water comes from the ground. Stepping into this section was like stepping into a shower it was so much cooler.

We quickly realized when arriving in Gambia that Abuko is a nature reserve that isn't running well because of financial reasons. Entry fee was extremely low.

We ran out of time to fully experience the entire reserve so we've only seen a part of it. The hike through the park was serene and quite beautiful.

The animal cages are basic and that part looks rundown. We hope the park gets the attention it deserves because the place has a lot of potential to be something much better than it is in its...

It was fun while at the reserve. They have a tour guard and the Gambian Police had a station close by and offer you their binoculars for 100 dalasi. The reserve has a rich history but doesn't have a lot of wildlife.

It was fun seeing the monkeys play in their natural habitat and jumping over a pool filled with crocodiles. Seeing the hyenas also was fun. I heard their is MOU that another reserve will bring some of its wildlife to the reserve. If this happens then it...
