April 2024 Update:

The Golf Course is 5-star review worthy. The rest of the experience falls short but they have made improvements.

If you are not staying at Villa Del Palmar (VDP) it is not at all obvious how check-in for your tee time works. As of April 2024 the main road leading from the highway to VDP is mostly finished and paved. Upon arrival to the main grounds you will need to go to the main hotel and park in front of the Bell Hop desk. If you have clubs unload them now. Walk inside to the right side of the main entrance and look for the small Golf Desk. Here is where you check in for your tee time. Now the fun begins. Once checked in they will radio for a shuttle cart or Trolley to pick you up and drive you up to the Clubhouse. That may require another 10+ minutes. In 2021 it took longer than 2024 but you still need to give yourself another +10 minutes of time for that delay. There is a small and adequately stocked Pro Shop. There is also a snack bar that offers lunch and dinner. The on-course snack & beverage cart service is pretty bad. We played in 2021 and saw the cart once in 18 holes. In 2024 we saw the cart once in 18 holes. The cart has no way to process a card for payment and was not allowed to accept cash. Both trips required we pay our bill at the end of the round. I was prepared for this in 2024 and brought a backpack cooler stocked with drinks. My updated advice? Stock up on beverages from the snack bar (or bring them with you) before you head out. If you want to purchase drinks for your cart, give yourself an additional 10 minutes before your tee time for that. It is at Baja pace.

In 2021 we had lunch at the turn and it was good. Fortunately, the course was not busy so we did not feel rushed to eat between 9's. We finished our round after 3pm which meant we had to drive our carts (with rental clubs on them) back down to where we had left our vehicle. At 3pm the whole upper snack bar / Pro Shop shuts down and everyone from the staff leaves promptly. In 2024 the Pro Shop closed at 3:00pm but the snack bar / restaurant remained open. That was a nice change. We were told it would remain open until 10pm but that seemed odd as there were only the 2 of us there.

In 2021 we had no idea what to do with our carts and clubs after our round because all Golf staff had left for the day... at 3:00pm. In 2024 there was staff on site that checked our rental clubs back in and instructed us to drive our cart back down to the hotel where we parked. If you are not sure what to do because everyone has left... drive the cart back down to the hotel and check in with the Golf Desk or front desk staff.

In April 2024 the course is in very good but not exceptional condition. They are working hard to patch dead spots and get the course back to premium conditions. All 18 holes and greens were in play. The course was nicer in 2021 and I look forward to playing in the future after the full recovery has finished.

Give yourself additional time for check in. Load your cooler with ice before you make your way to the first tee. Buy or search for extra balls before you set off. If you rent clubs they provide 2 sleeves of new balls that only a higher handicap player might approve of.

This is one of my favorite courses and is worth the $$$ they charge for it. Can't...

Played this course on April 30, 2021. It’s a stunning Rees Jones design that is forgiving, fair, and fun! There are very few parallel fairways so players get privacy on the holes they are playing, which helps when you launch your drive into a mountain side, or chunk your 8 iron into the canyon. Fewer witnesses! It’s a desert layout similar to something found around Palm Springs, Phoenix, or naturally, Los Cabos, but with much less traffic, at least when we played. The 17th hole gets all the attention from the marketing department, and deservedly so, but the rest is solid in its own Baja golf way. I loved 12 and 13 which are two of the rare parallel holes, but were layed out that way to play toward the bay (and into the wind). It was a brilliant and sensible design idea that resulted in two very photogenic holes. I also loved the uphill par 5 second hole which offers an Eagle opportunity, and the par 3 third with its forced carry over a canyon. As for #17, it’s one of the most beautiful holes I’ve played out of the 175 different courses I’ve visited so far. It delivers a jaw dropping view coupled with the wee bit of fear one gets facing a forced carry on the signature hole. The conditions when we played were perfect. Lush grass, raked sand and waste areas, one shade of green greens (with no ball marks or blemishes to aim putts at). All this makes TPC Danzante Bay worth the price of admission, which was $210 and typical of Baja. Enjoy your round and hit...

Yup....wow..stop it... Amazing OMG....#bestcourse. these are just a few words that express my joy playing this course. The elevation changes to the greens and tee box are all amazing. But literally nothing better watching a drive fly of the tee with mountains in the background as it goes into open fairway. I Highly recommend this course. It is very playable meaning the fairways are open. And if you are lucky and miss hit you might get a members bounce off a rock into the fairway. Great staff. I stayed at the resort next door and this...
