Las cuevas beach is definitely a favorite for families with small children. The waves are significantly calmer than maracas. We arrived around 8.30 am and the main car park was already full so we had to park at the secondary carpark at the top. There's a steep ramp from there to the beach. At that hour, the beach was very calm and there was barely a ripple. The beach has very little shells and few stones and the water is pretty clear and we even found a sand dollar on the beach! . We rented an umbrella and 2 chairs for $140TT and stayed the day. It's less 'vibesy' than maracas and there's a lot of beach landscape so persons can spread out along the beach as they please making it less crowded looking. By midday, there was a fair amount of people. There's not as many food choices as maracas ( there's a lady selling pholourie, bake and shark, fried chicken bites and fries) at the entrance. Her food is good but it's $50 a meal and the service is slower than what you'd get at Maracas and of course, as it's a very small business she only takes cash. There's also another vendor selling pineapple chow fresh on the spot (amazing chow btw 10/10-would buy again) There's a few other carts selling ice cream and sno-cone about and another vendor selling snacks and preservatives. By 1.30pm the waves started getting 'maracas style' and we packed up to leave. Which brings me to the issue of the change rooms... The change rooms are in a deplorable condition (thank heavens they know not to charge you to use that!) The showers are pipes in broken cracks in the wall and the entire floor of the change room is a shallow pool of sand and water. It was a solid 0/10 --I will never use that restroom again. It needs a serious upgrade and they need to build some family change rooms like what's at Maracas. The facility needs a LOT of improvement. Las cuevas has a lot of potential to be as great as Maracas if they would renovate and improve the infrastructure. Update: the sandflies on the beach are excessive.walk with some bug/insect repellent and stay off the layin in the sand because our entire family had a rash from sandfly bites the next day after our visit to the beach esp our youngest who was laying in the sand making sand castles

Great beach facilities. This beach is usually considered alongside Maracas and Tyrico as they are along the same north coast road with Las Cuecas being the farthest of the three when coming from the west. The parking is great unlike Tyrico and free unlike maracas. When the main car park is full there is additional parking with a nice walk way between the car park and the beach. The entire beach facility is very well built and maintained. There is a nice shower area unlike Tyrico. You can pay just 1 dollar to shower inside and use the changing rooms or you can shower outside for free. Unlike Maracas where you have to pay and the price is relatively much more. The beach itself is great. The water is very calm and clean. Tyrico beach has an estuary so while it is calm most times, it can have some debris in the water Maracas beach is usually very rough and it's turbulent waters result in the water being very sandy. Hence, Las Cuevas has the best beach out of the 3 locations. There is also a snack bar to compete with Maracas' iconic bake and shark as well as vendors selling local craft and snacks. Is it worth the extra drive after Maracas? I would say yes but you can decide.

Nestled along the North Coast Road, Las Cuevas Beach is a haven of tranquility and natural beauty. Its crescent-shaped bay is flanked by lush hills, creating a picturesque panorama that is both captivating and serene. The beach itself boasts a wide expanse of golden sand, gently sloping into the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. The waves here are typically calm, making it an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling, and simply relaxing on the shore. For those seeking a bit of adventure, Las Cuevas Beach also offers excellent surfing conditions. The western end of the beach is known for its powerful waves, which attract surfers of all levels. In addition to its stunning natural beauty, Las Cuevas Beach also offers a range of amenities for visitors. There are several vendors selling food and drinks, as well as restrooms, changing facilities, and showers. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day in the sun or an exhilarating surfing experience, Las Cuevas Beach is sure to exceed your expectations. With its stunning scenery and abundance of activities, it's a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the North Coast of Trinidad.

Clean, beautiful, beige-sanded beach. Not many shaded areas along the beach front but beautiful green cliffs hug this crescenteric stretch of beach. The facility gives a beautiful elevated view over the sea producing magnificent sunrises and sunsets. The water is clean, clear and calm most of the times but tends to deeper side even just a few meters in.

There is limited space in an unsecured parking paved lot. There is also a second parking lot just before the beach facilities just off the North Coast road. There is accessible parking in the main parking, but unethical patrons and sometimes even "lifeguards" make it very difficult for differently-abled beach-goers to enjoy the facility. There is absolutely NO enforcement of the rules at this facility.

The facilities include a sometimes free male and female shower and changing room and an outside shower and foot wash. The staff is very unfriendly. The maintenance is average. There is no family/baby care room.

There is a small cafeteria within the compound as well serving soft drinks, snacks, some finger foods, beer and alcoholic beverages

On the beach there are tent, umbrella and lounge chair rentals but the numerous representatives of the "company" are loiterers, very unfriendly, aggressive and foul-mouthed and sometimes play music with very explicit lyrics with little to no consideration for nearby children. The no smoking rule is not upheld here.

Fortunately the beach is in my opinion the best Trinidad has to offer and it is the only reason that it gets 3 stars. It loses 2 stars because of inflexible and inconsiderate "staff", vendors and their lack...
