Awesome experience on our tour of the nylon pool and Buccoo reef. Frankie picked us up at Shorebay and took us to the boat a few minutes away. Was offered pick up at our hotel but we drove to Shorebay first and Frankie had no issues. Honestly he was very respectful of our wishes and worked with us to make sure we were comfortable. The boat tour itself was very pleasant, of course this was partly due to the other patrons who joined us. We couldn't blame Frankie if the patrons were bad, but it's definitely something to keep in mind when doing a tour with a group of people who you might not be familiar with. The captain and his mate took us to the Buccoo reef, Nylon pool, and finally no man's island for lunch. Our tour didn't include lunch but we had a choice of different foods and vendors at the island for food and drinks. The crew were incredibly helpful and shared a lot of cool info with us about the reef and history of the area. I would say bring your own goggles and snorkel if possible. They are really inexpensive at the stores by the beach. During the snorkeling trip the crew did their best to make sure we got a lot of time in the water, even going back around after the boat drifted away from the reef. Unfortunately during November there wasn't a lot of fish in the reef and the reef it self wasn't active, but we had a ton of fun anyways. The Nylon pool was insanely more fun than I was expecting. It is very shallow, I'm about 5' 7" and i was able to stand in most places with the water up to my chest, at the deepest it was up to my neck. We spent plenty of time at each spot and the crew weren't pushy about stragglers. It was overall a very chill and enjoyable experience, would recommend and hope to come back...
Read moreOn the day we took the boat trip, the pick up point was changed due to possible adverse weather. This resulted in being driven from Store Bay beach to the jetty at Bon Accord. The change of departure point must surely be subject to contingency planning, but it felt a bit shambolic - thus it really cut into our trip time as we left the dock at 12:20 instead of 11.00, but returned at 2pm for the next charter. There was only one mini van to shuttle people so there was unnecessary waiting before and after the tour.
The tickets stated that snorkelling equipment would be provided, but none was available as it was now subject to government policy. That's fine, but change your tickets (a marker pen would suffice) or tell your sales agents to advise accordingly. On the plus side the crew were friendly and helpful, the scenery was stunning and Nylon pool is worth a visit. Not sure about the lads touting jet-ski rides when you get there - riding too fast and too close to the punters, fuelled by machismo and testosterone. I know this isn't necessarily within the tour operator's influence, but it needs pointing out. The party atmosphere on board the (murky) glass bottomed boat was great, as were the food shacks on No Man's Land beach. Lobster was good value and the chicken dish was lush. Drinks were available on board - $15 TT for a beer which is reasonable. Overall it was a fun day out, but come on guys - could do better. I was surprised that there wasn't a tip jar for the deck hands either. Missed a trick...
Read moreWe booked a tour to Goat Island for snorkeling and birding. The experience was Okay at best, communication during the booking process was difficult, didn't get very good information or communications. Had to wait almost an hour for the boat to show up.
We were the only ones on the boat which was nice, would have expected a little more of personal feel and vibe form the crew. They didn't seem to go out of their way, just seemed like a very basic and average experience.
Prior to booking the trip and while on the boat we said we wanted to use more of our time to snorkel, which they said wouldn't be a problem. But we only got to snorkel at one location.
Most surprisingly, while snorkeling they didn't offer much guidance, didn't offer life jackets [we didn't need them as we're all strong swimmers and experienced in the water], and didn't even help us get in or out of the water. Again, not that we required it, but it sure would be nice to hand someone our fins while we're getting back into the boat.
Lastly, it almost seems like we where inconveniencing the tour guide, since we only got to snorkel at one location, we came back to the boat for a quick break and then to go back out again. He didn't seem to care for that, even though we were well within the time duration of our tour. Regardless, we went back in the water and made the best of it.
Wouldn't recommend this tour operator at...
