We stopped at the bitters factory as part of a tour, and it was a little weird. The factory tours are not performed by Angostura. Rather, the contract with the city guides, to perform the tour of their factory. Recognizing it was between Christmas and New Year’s, the tour wasn’t as good as it could have been. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and we spent a lot of time talking about the history of the island and Angostura When it came to the factory, he noted that some folks were in flip-flops, and that was not allowed, so we had to crawl back up on the bus and the bus drove us around. Many distilleries have a tasting room where at the end of the tour you have the opportunity to taste their wares. in this case, they provided a little gift bag and suggested that you should not partake of the tastings, while on their property, rather go back to the cruise ship or your hotel and sample that that time I recognize everybody has a bad day, so maybe they were having a bad day, but in the big scheme of things, it wasn’t a very enticing...
Read moreVery nice 2 hour tour. We were finally able to join after a few attempts in the past years. You must be at least 8 people or be able to fit in with another group to have the tour. Wasn't mentioned on the ad or at the time of reservation, but tour is about 10$ U.S. but worth the time. Distillery, Museum, history and giant butterfly collection all in one. Finish the tour with a Rum tasting where everyone in the tour gets much friendlier... We were also able to buy their rum and bitters at the store when we finished, but unfortunately it's not true that they have better prices then at the duty free shop. Duty free was a couple of dollars less....
Read morePLEASE know that this tour does not include tastings!! Not of any rum or even bitters! I have been to distilleries all over the world and never could have fathomed that one would not include tastings! Like who would buy their rum without being able to sample it? That’s the entire reason to visit the distillery! To make matters worse, the prices were exactly $0.15 less than in any grocery store in Trinidad! They could have offered at least a 10% discount! I would NEVER recommend this tour. No wonder no locals have ever been. It’s a complete...
