I echo some of the previous reviewers. This was such a good museum. Very good as well if you have children as it is easy to navigate, information is simple and basic and the displays are also fun! Even as an adult, I love museums like this as you can learn a lot without being overloaded with too much history. I learnt about tradition and cultures like marriage and local life. A great insight into Tunisian and especially Djerbian heritage. Clean. Very relaxing and I loved it. There is a coffee shop at the end and souvenirs / handicrafts. Worth a stop as the views from the coffee shop are really nice. You can see the whole of Djerba. The building where the museum is housed, is lovely. Highly recommend. Not sure about the entrance fee as I came here as part of a guided tour and this included a stop here. I would allow maybe an hour to an hour and a half...
Read morePlease be aware of the tickets price they charge you as Tunisians!! They scammed us.
The museum is amazing and i learned a lot as a tunisian about our culture and traditions. However, i went there with my parents and i discovered later that they charged us the tourists price 12 dinars per person instead of 7 dinars) I tried to call the manager and he was sorry about this. However he did not fully believe me. He was asking me is i was talking in a foreign language to the cashier or if i look non tunisian. There was no reason for me to speak in another language. He offered me to pass by and get my money back but we couldn‘t go as we were about to leave the island. It‘s really sad to get scammed in your own country.. i recommend the museum but advise you to pay attention to the...
Read moreBeautiful buildings, beautiful plantings, nice views. A lovely walk with places to sit, a snack bar, and a gift shop.
The museum is laid out well with interpretive statements in Arabic, French and English, and clear directions on moving through the exhibits. Interesting and educational.
That said, the exhibits could use some work. Some of the mannequins limbs are in positions that would be impossible or very painful. Many look suspiciously like actual mannequins, all very stiff. Some look like they are about to fall over, props are askew, and everything is covered in dust.
But, all in all, a good museum and a beautiful...
