Magical Historical Place. Infinite Beauty. Utterly Authentic. Many archeological places are similar to this place exist in Tunisia, but its authenticity resides in the fact that it's almost as new. Its walls are still well shaped and not collapsed makes any visitor feel as being in ancient Roman Carthage. U can imagine the crowds yelling and the emperor on the side with his empress. U can feel all the great fights held there through hundreds of years. Resides in a pure nature not surrounded by any buildings or cities. All green landscape around. Pure authenticity. Love it so much. Its actually still used for some festivals as it is still in good condition. Entry fees 10dt only for visitors. Free...

Visit this place if you can. Part of the Uthina site. See my review of that.

Definitely explore around the underground caverns, below the steel create. There are lots of natural light but some dark creepy spots, too. Note the trough in the middle running along the underground passage below the stage... used to drain blood and other yuck from animals and humans too. Use your imagination. This place was normally packed with people and activity. It's dead quiet now, but in its day, it...

Entry is a bargain at 8 dinars to the whole archaeological site. It takes about 2 hours to see everything. Bring water. Visited in June, and was the only visitor at the time. The amphitheatre looks fantastic and you are able to go into the centre, underneath (where animals would be kept), and around the seating area. It's a well preserved amphitheatre (with some reconstruction in certain parts). Really great experience.

The amphitheatre is a beautiful place to visit, with plenty to see. It's not as well preserved as the one in El Jem, but it's still well worth a visit. It's a shame there aren't more information boards with historical details. There are several other nearby sites that are also worth exploring. You could easily spend most of the day looking around the area.

Th Amphitheatre is just one of the structures on this incredible site officially known as “The Archaeological Site of Uthina”. The amphitheatre is fairly in tact. You can assess the arena as well as the basement. Uthina is a site not to be missed when in Tunisia. The entire site would take about 2 hours to explore; may be even more.
