Amongst the highlights of our 10 days stay in Tunesia.
When entering, our first impressions weren't very positive: the guy at the parking took 2 Dinars from us. Entrance fee itself is fair. And they accept credit card/Google pay. Next thing we saw: the pool for the seals is empty; no seal show at the moment. Then you pass through two shops, where, you guessed it, they all start taking and selling stuff to you. Once you passed these "areas of disappointment", the actual zoo is quite nice. The "predators" area is well designed with many interesting animals and you get close to them. The restaurant inside the zoo is not a "bargain", but it is good, though. We had a good lunch for three people including drinks and including tips for 100 Dinars. That's completely fair, considering the staff kept bringing us some extra fries and extra pasta during our lunch. There's also a nice lady inside the zoo that sells handwritten souvenirs with calligraphy. When walking out, you pass through that souvenir shop area again. This time we went into one of these shops and were positively surprised: there are price labels! Turned out, the shop owner is a nice guy with fixed (good) prices. He also accepts credit card.
To summarize: many interesting animals, good food,...
Read moreFriguia Park is a fantastic destination for animal lovers, offering a diverse range of species in spacious enclosures. However, it’s wise to avoid weekends when the park can become quite crowded. A Few Tips: Comfortable Footwear: Be prepared for plenty of walking, so wear comfortable shoes. Time Your Visit: Don’t miss the entertaining sea lion show. Animal Enrichment: While the park offers a variety of animals, some enclosures could benefit from additional enrichment activities to stimulate the animals. Food and Transport: Dining Options: While the restaurant terrace provides a decent meal, it could be improved with enhanced ambiance and a wider variety of food choices. Transportation: If you’re driving, reaching the park is straightforward. However, public transportation options, especially taxis, can be a bit more complex, often requiring a transfer in Enfidha. The Friendly Faces of Friguia Park: One of the highlights of our visit was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. They were always willing to answer questions, provide directionsn. Overall, Friguia Park is a worthwhile experience. It provides a unique opportunity to observe various animals up close. By addressing a few minor issues, the park can further enhance its...
Read moreOn a recent trip to Hammamet we booked to visit Friguia Park through Tui. With transfers via coach it cost 90dinars per adult and 45dinar per child. We spent 3 hours here which was plenty as the zoo is not huge and the time was enough to have seen everything there. Lions, lion cubs, hyenas, tortoises, elephants, a zebra, fennec foxes, monkeys of various sorts, porcupines, reindeer, antelopes, and more in spacious enclosures and all look well cared for.
Contrary to previous reviews the staff do NOT hassle you for tips by forcing food into your hands. There was a member of staff at the buffalo handing people leaves but walking away once they did and the same at the reindeers. Politely offering the chance to feed them without asking for money in return.
There is a small shop on site offering various gifts which are extremely cheap compared to shops elsewhere. Food and drink is again cheaply priced. 1.5l bottles of water for 2 dinar (53p) and same for most snacks between 2-5dinar.
Don't miss the sealion show, it's roughly 15minutes long and entertaining for all.
All in all this is a great little excursion, couldn't fault the staff and this park had everything to make a nice day...
