Tuz Gölü, also known as Lake Tuz, is one of Turkey's largest saltwater lakes and is located in the central part of the country. Here is some information about it:

Size: Tuz Gölü is the second-largest lake in Turkey and covers an area of approximately 1,500 square kilometers.

Salt Content: It is known for its high salinity, which makes it one of the saltiest lakes in the world. The lake's salt content is the source of salt production in the region.

Wildlife: Despite its harsh environment, Tuz Gölü is home to various bird species, including flamingos, which use the lake as a breeding ground during certain times of the year.

Economic Importance: The lake has significant economic importance due to salt production. Salt pans and facilities around the lake extract salt, which is used for various industrial and domestic purposes.

Location: Tuz Gölü is situated in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, primarily in the provinces of Ankara, Aksaray, and Konya.

Environmental Concerns: There have been concerns about the environmental impact of salt extraction and industrial activities on the lake's ecosystem. Efforts have been made to address these concerns and protect the area's unique biodiversity.

We rented a car from Göreme and made a trip out to the Salt Lake (Tuz Gölü). Depending on the season, the lake may not be fully covered with water, which can make the iconic mirror-like reflections hit or miss. But after checking some recent reviews showing a good water level, we decided to go—and it was worth it.

On the way there, we saw some heavy clouds moving eastward, which made us worry about the weather. Luckily, the sky over the lake was clear and blue. We must’ve had some serious luck on our side!

The road was in good condition, and the drive took about 2 hours one-way from Göreme. We didn’t get a perfect sunset, but we were still able to take some stunning shots with the lake’s magical reflections as the backdrop.

It’s a bit of a gamble depending on the timing, but if you catch it right, it’s truly...

Tuz Lake Special Environmental Protection Area is administratively within the borders of Ankara, Konya and Aksaray provinces. Salt Lake; It is located in the lowest part of the northeast of the pit area in the Anatolia Region, surrounded by the Kızılırmak Massif from the east, Obruk from the south, Cihanbeyli from the west and Haymana plateaus from the north.

Entrance is free. There is a shop selling souvenirs. It sells salt lamps. You can walk on the lake. The sunshine is magnificent.

Since Salt Lake has maximum water levels in the spring months, those who prefer to walk in the lake can visit it in these months. At the end of summer, as the water completely recedes, beautiful and different views emerge. Those who want to visit the lake can visit the lake during...
