As a frequent traveller, I've had many of special occasions. I recently returned from a trip to Turkey that was nothing short of wonderful, therefore I feel obligated to tell you about my trek through the enchanted Devrent Valley (also known as Imaginary Valley). I was mesmerised by this extraordinary and surreal location in Cappadocia, and I can't wait to show you what awaits you in this captivating terrain.

When I first arrived in Cappadocia, the spectacular beauty of the area's renowned fairy chimneys attracted me, and I couldn't wait to explore the Devrent Valley. Although this lesser-known gem may not be as well-known as other locations like Göreme, trust me when I say it's still worthwhile to include on your itinerary.

You will be immediately transported to a setting straight out of a fantasy book the instant you enter Devrent Valley. You can use your imagination to create new shapes in the unusual rock formations that erosion has carved over thousands of years. It feels whimsical, as if you are strolling through a forest of extinct legendary creatures.

The "camel," as its name implies, is without a doubt the most well-known structure in the valley since it closely resembles the animal. But when I delved further, I found innumerable other fascinating forms, like mushrooms, dolphins, seals, and even a fairy-tale castle. Your imagination will definitely be inspired by the valley's natural beauty, which will have you continually looking out for the next alluring shape.

I adored Devrent Valley's tranquil atmosphere the most. The valley provided a calm retreat where I could properly appreciate the grandeur of nature, in contrast to the more congested tourist areas in Cappadocia. I was able to explore at my own pace thanks to the well-kept walking trails, and I spent hours getting lost in this fascinating geological maze.

Don't pass up the chance to shoot lots of pictures as you stroll around the valley. A photographer's paradise is created by the stunning surroundings and the constantly shifting light. The golden hour, just before sunset, shed a warm warmth over the rock formations, transforming them into an amazing work of beauty. I discovered that this was the greatest time to come.

Overall, my trip to Devrent Valley was an incredible memory that I will treasure for a very long time. Every traveller should include this undiscovered treasure in Cappadocia on their bucket list. Therefore, if you're considering travelling to Turkey, take advantage of the opportunity to discover this lovely setting and let your imagination soar as you meander through the...

Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, is one of the most unique and surreal landscapes in Cappadocia. Unlike other valleys in the region, Devrent doesn’t have cave churches or ancient dwellings, but what makes it special is its unusual rock formations that resemble different shapes, animals, and even human figures.

There is no entrance fee, making it an easy and accessible stop for visitors. The valley is best explored by walking around and letting your imagination run wild as you spot rock formations that look like camels, seals, or even a praying monk. The most famous rock is the camel-shaped formation, which is a popular photo spot.

While there isn’t a marked hiking trail, you can walk freely among the rocks and enjoy the...

Highly recommended stopping here. The view is worth it. Drive up to this area off the main road. Park on the side of the road and start exploring. Takes about 15-20 min to explore the nice views but you can easily sit here longer and take it all in. Park is free. Bring cash to purchase drinks or souvenirs. This is a very popular stop for tour buses but it you hike up the hill, you can get pictures without people.
