Çal Cave is a cave located in Düzköy district of Trabzon. The cave, which was completed in 2000 and opened to tourism in 2003, is at an altitude of 1116 meters according to some sources and 1050 meters according to some sources. A stream that reaches a depth of 1.5 meters according to some sources and 50 centimeters according to other sources flows through the cave, which has a castle above it. In summer, the depth of this stream drops to 25 centimeters. Located at a distance of 11 kilometers from Düzköy district, the cave splits into two branches, one 400 meters and the other 150 meters after 200 meters from its entrance. There is a small lake and waterfall at the 60th meter of the long arm. Water from the doline flows from the chimney at the end of the small arm. The accessible area in the cave, both arms of which is paved with wooden walkways, is 8 kilometers. The cave, which was visited by approximately 20,000 people in the summer months, was visited by 2,743 in January and February 2018. It is thought that the cave, which was formed in two stages, was formed in a period of approximately 8 million years. The first stage of the formation of the cave took place when the water leaking from the surface dissolved the limestone. The fractures in the dissolved limestones were widened and a water channel was formed through the underground. After the first stage, with the regional uplift, the water flow that formed the cave stopped and the cave took its final form. During the period of regional uplift, stalactites and stalagmites began to form in the sinkholes where water used to leak.

Çal Cave is believed to have formed in 8 million years and it has reached its present shape in two stages. In the first stage, it is recorded that the water leaking from the surface dissolves the limestone and provides an underground water channel. In the second phase, it is stated that the water flow which leads to cave development decreases and the development of the cave stops. In this period, it is reported that the water leaked from the water channels, which are connected to the sinkholes at higher elevations, started to form stalagmites and stalagmites. The entrance of Cal Cave is a height of human height. In some places, the height is 25-30 m. The cave, which is estimated to have a length of approximately 4 km, has a length of about 850m. With this feature, it is among the longest caves of Türkiye. There are social infrastructure, coffee house and promenade areas around the cave. Located above the cave and above the entrance to the cave and used as a tea house today, the small cave room forms a waterfall in the spring season when the rain falls and the snow falls. In addition to local handicrafts and products, visitors can also serve tea, toast, pancakes and breakfast at the buffet in front of the cave.

Cal Cave (Çal Mağarası), located near the city of Trabzon, is one of the longest caves in the world, stretching over 8 kilometers. It offers a unique experience for visitors, with its stunning stalactites, stalagmites, and underground streams. The cave is partially open to the public, allowing people to explore about a 1-kilometer section of it, which is well-lit and easy to navigate. The cool, fresh air inside the cave provides a refreshing escape, especially during the summer months, and the sound of flowing water creates a peaceful ambiance. The surroundings of Cal Cave are equally picturesque, with lush green landscapes and small waterfalls, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and adventurers. The infrastructure for tourists is well-maintained, with wooden walkways and safety measures in place. While the cave isn't as well-known as other attractions in the Black Sea region, its raw beauty and tranquility make it a hidden gem worth visiting for those looking to explore off-the-beaten-path locations.

Çalköy Mağarası is named after the village Çalköy, where it is located. It is a rather huge cave with a cave river. The water level of the river depends on the weather and changes quite substantially during the year. In the rainy season in winter it is 50 cm deep, in summer only 25 cm. The entrance is quite spectacular, a vertical limestone cliff with the resurgence at its foot. The river is channelled and dammed, only a few metres before the cave entrance, which keeps the level of the water stable, at least in the entrance area of the cave. The entrance section is low for about 150 m and visitors have to stoop. Then the cave widens and speleothems are found. And is has the typical legends of a Turkish show cave to tell, which are so obvious lies, normal people could never tell them: Çal Cave is the second longest cave of the world. It is also good for asthma and sinusitis diseases due to its different air circulation. The cave has a length of 8 kilometers, but can be visited only for a length of about 1 kilometer.

Calkoy Cave is truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of nature's beauty. From the moment I stepped inside, I was mesmerized by the otherworldly formations and the serenity that envelops this underground wonder. The intricate stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over centuries create a breathtaking and mystical atmosphere. The guided tour was informative and engaging, providing a glimpse into the geological history of the cave. What sets Calkoy Cave apart is its untouched, pristine beauty, far from the crowds often found in more popular attractions. The cave's cool, damp air is a welcome respite from the outside world, making it the perfect escape on a hot day. Visiting Calkoy Cave is an opportunity to connect with nature and marvel at the Earth's hidden wonders. It's a must-see destination for anyone who appreciates the beauty of our planet. I left with a sense of awe and gratitude for the chance to experience such a unique and unspoiled natural wonder.

Wonderful place to get to and wonderful to enjoy. 1) went here today in winter season. Main roads were accessible. You park at Çal City Center. Then you walk on snowy slippery sloped roads for 2 km to get to the cave. The walk takes 30 minutes upwards but one hour downwards. Too risky for children and elderly during snow season. 2) the location is magnificent. The scenery is magical. 3) the cafe was empty at noon when I arrived. I enjoyed the place by myself alone. 4) there’re waterfalls inside the cave and outside the cave. You walk all over bridges and platforms with water running beneath you. 5) I didn’t find the cave cold, if you’re wearing a jacket, it’s enough. 6) loved the place and highly recommended.
