I lived in Australia and New Zealand for a few years and Gallipoli is almost a founding myth in those respective countries. It was fascinating to come here and see the place and battle(s) I heard so much about. What was really interesting was also to see it from Ottoman/Turkish perspective. What's amazing about the whole complex is how the winning side the Turks have almost dedicated it to losing side renaming the landing area to Anzac cove etc. I can't think of anywhere else where such a thing has happened.

But If you don't want to learn what happened, you may walk around there like shopping center. There are many misinformation related to reality. Translations don't match with Turkish texts. Historical areas are shown or expressed together with manipulated items. This place is not for praying, especially not for showing themselves to everyone how much religious they are in every option. Read moreThe weather was the coldest it has been since we began our journey in May. We had only been in Turkey for a day and we were so close to the Peninsula we had to come. So pleased we did. We visited the memorials and cemeteries of the fallen. It was extremely moving . The road around the peninsula is good and the route easily trod.
