We visited the land of lions a few days ago and wow it was amazing!! We booked directly via the land of lions Facebook group ensuring that we got the best package deal, all the information we needed and our transport was included. We were picked up from our hotel at 8am by the friendly driver who had a big smile on his face. We were the first pick up as our hotel was very far away. On the way to the land of lions, we had another 2 stops to collect visitors and we met some lovely family’s. On arrival we were greeted by the staff and allowed some time to go to the toilet before the tour starts, there was a play park for children and there was animals for us to look at. Everyone was happy and excited at this point. We gave our payment and purchased some animal feed before the tour began. It was time for the tour to start, everyone stood up and began to follow Rick, the very friendly tour guide. First we met the 1 year old lions and this was so magical. They were well looked after and very friendly. We went onto the reptile house were there was fish, spiders, lizards, snakes etc. All the children on our tour were smiling and really enjoying themselves. We went outside and fed deer, goats and there was even bunny’s!! The next stop was the Lions!!🦁 here we got to see them closer then I've ever been able to in any other zoo, we paid an additional amount to feed the lions which was incredible and definitely worth it! There was time for each family to do this meaning that no one else was in their photos which made it better. We gave them our mobile phones and we had so many photos and videos taken. This wait wasn’t long at all as the other family’s could watch and still take photos with the lions. Once you had your turn, you could carry on to the next part of the tour where you could see tigers, bears, monkeys, horses, wolves, goats. You could stop and pet/ feed/ take photos of some of the animals without being rushed. We then reached a cafe/ seating area were there was again friendly staff all eager to help. Here you could purchase snacks, ice cream, drinks. There was a free train ride around the park for children, which the staff then put on again as the children loved it so much. There was a trampoline for children, glitter tattoos and not too far, baby goats!! Family’s were taken one by one to meet the baby lions as not to overwhelm them but to also allow time for photos. This moment was so magical, I can’t even put it into words. The baby lions were so calm and cuddly. We were invited to watch a sea lion show and wow, the bond between the trainer and the sea lions was so special. THE BEST SEA LION SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!! There was so much talent and everyone was so happy, I’d recommend a seat at the front! After the show you could go take photos with the sea lion for an additional fee although worth every penny! This was then your free time, you could now have a wonder around the park on your own, go to the cafe, hold the baby goats again, go feed the monkeys, or just have a sit down. The staff ensured to confirm with everyone that they had met the baby lions to make sure no one had missed out. Eventually we made it back to our hotel around 2pm but it’s a day we will never forget! Everyone left happy and it was so worth the money we had paid. Over all the day was amazing, it was the best tour of our trip and memories made for a life time. I would definitely recommend the photo package. Thank you to all the staff for being nice and helping to make this wonderful day for us. They anaimals are happy and well looked after. They have incredible bonds with the staff. We will definitely be doing this trip again on our next...
Read moreNot sure where to start as some possible scam included Price - in euros and not local currency as well as entry fee is on the high end. On arrival I was told that I would need to pay 15 euros more if I want to play with the lions. I was told that animals are cared for daily and well fed however the state on most of the animals says other wise - the tiger was the only animal that looked healthy however was also enclosed in a very small room.
Lions looks like a sack of bones, poor cubs looked like there were terrified and were always hiding in the corner, everything was rushed!! (We were told that the cubs are only 2 weeks old - personally I feel as the cubs were to young to play a part in this money making scheme) To play with the bear cubs was another extra 15 euros which again was told last minute when arriving at the bear cage Food was 25 euros for two burgers Seemed like all they cared about was making money and taking what ever they can from the tourist/customers At the end the staff present pictures at ridiculous rates and then tried pressuring everyone into buying them
Sea lion would not listen to anyone and did not do the show so owner advised to move on as the animal is not in the mood.
Highlight - the lion cub bit one of the children and the park manager applied bandages and suspected iodine to the the wound and through out the whole tour was insisting that all the animals have been vaccinated and as proof was showing vet business cads, no actual certificate or proof to say the animals have been vaccinated. Also if you are planning on going and playing with the lions then I would advise wearing long sleeves as alot of people were complaining about...
Read moreIf you decide to visit this ZOO, do not go on foot, no matter how close your hotel is, because it is located by the highway, which of course means there is no pedestrian walkway 😄
The ZOO itself is charming. There are quite a few lions, they seem well-fed and are very beautiful. I believe they also have enough space. The monkeys are also cute. We saw three bear cubs; their enclosure was nicely arranged.
What really amazed me was the friendship between a wolf and a small dog who share the same (though a bit cramped) enclosure. The highlight of the visit for me was the sea lion show – it’s definitely worth setting aside a few dozen minutes for it, as it’s a truly enchanting experience.
The dinosaurs are nicely positioned, although some of them are falling apart. I was especially delighted by the Ice Age characters.
As for the museums listed on the website – none of them were open. In fact, the interiors looked more like storage rooms. Hopefully, one day the planned museums will actually be realized 😊
One big minus from me goes to the staff encouraging the lion cubs that were meant for photo sessions. In an extremely rude manner, they refused to let my three-year-old take a photo with a cub, even though he had just watched several other children do it. They asked us for money – which wouldn’t have been a problem – but they kept raising the price, typing different numbers into a mobile phone, as they didn't speak any foreign language. Interestingly, they didn’t ask other parents for money while we were waiting in line. Maybe we shouldn’t have asked about the price for taking a photo with our own camera. I consider this behavior...
