I decided to give Konakli a try after a ski trainer told me it has 3,5 km FIS approved Super G racing slope. Alpine type ski competitions in 2011 university winter Olympic Games took place here, not at Palandöken. We reached there together with my friend from Tel Aviv. A strong wind was blowing and the lifts were not operating. So I returned back to Palandöken. When you compare it to Palandöken the level of difficulty of black slopes is same but they are much more longer. You need endurance and stamina. It is for sure you will perfect your skiing skills running on top of those advanced slopes.
The geography of mountain area is hugely tectonic which is shaped by movement of earth’s crust and large-scale process of rising plates.
With this in mind there is a vision to connect Palandöken and Konaklı with a continuous chain of lifts. That will allow people to depart from one site and arrive at next by roaming ridge of mountains on their ski. The project is said to be at design phase and no budget...
