I visited Altinköy Beach in Urla, Izmir, and rented a sunbed and umbrella for 200 TL(~5.60€) on July 12, 2024. The price is quite reasonable compared to other places in Izmir. The beach itself is a mix of sand, pebbles, and small stones. The sea is clean, clear, refreshing, and very cold. The beach offers various facilities such as restrooms, showers, changing rooms, and parking. I drove to the beach, and while parking was manageable, the roads leading there are in bad condition, so drive carefully. The beach is family-friendly. The sea is not deep, which is common in the Izmir/Ceşme area, making it suitable for kids and non-swimmers. However, there are no lifeguards on duty, so be mindful of safety. The crowd is diverse, with mostly locals, families, and just a handful of tourists. Unfortunately, many people leave their trash on the beach, resulting in some garbage floating in the sea. You can also find cigarette butts, PET bottles, and other litter on the beach, and there doesn’t seem to be any active effort to maintain cleanliness. One downside is that the separation between the public beach area and the section for people renting sunbeds could be better managed, as my view was often obstructed by others who hadn’t paid for sunbeds.Despite these issues, Altinköy Beach is a calm place and not very windy, unlike other beaches in the Izmir area, which is a huge plus. There are food and drink options available at fair prices, but it’s self-service only.Overall, it’s a decent beach, especially if you're a local. However, there are definitely better options, particularly for tourists. If you pay for a sunbed, be aware that your view might be obstructed by locals sitting in front of you who haven’t...
Read moreIt’s a big beach with beautiful clear water, only a bit of rocks when you enter, some spots on the beach there are none at all.
You can rent a beach chair and umbrella from the beach club at 400 lira each but they are nowhere near the water. If you want to be near the water it’s better to bring your own umbrella etc so you can sit where you want. No government restaurants or free toilets. Toilet costs 20 lira
There was also a big sign that said no camping
Overall we enjoyed it....
Read moreWe were on the beach on April 13, 2024. There were already a lot of people there because of the weekend. It is definitely quieter on weekdays. There are two areas on the beach: a private one for a fee with loungers, umbrellas, café and restaurant and a free area where you can bring your own blanket, umbrella and something to eat. Unfortunately, this part of the beach is quite dirty. Toilet and shower costs 20 lira. The water is still ice cold but there were a lot of people...
