On my way back to Ashgabat my driver stopped here, and I had a chance to explore the ruins of this mosque. The architecture and the details are so interesting. Apparently on the entry archway there was two dragon quite unique decoration for a mosque. During the earthquake of Ashgabat the mosque got destroyed. Highly recommended a visit!

The ruins of the Seyit Jemaletdin Mosque just east of the capital city of Ashgabat. Built in 1456 this is unique because it depicts two large dragons above the entrance arch which is in contradiction of the Islamic architectural tradition of not depicting any living being in its artwork.
