Showed up at 1pm yesterday to do a cave tour. We did not have enough money (even though the website says entry fee is $20 per person — we had $44). So we had to leave to get money from an ATM about 20 minutes away (she told us it was $30 pp). We asked the woman taking the money what time they were open until. She said 3. She said get there by 2.30 at the latest. We got back at 1.45pm and the gate was locked! I guess they decided to close early for no reason at all. I couldn’t believe this as they knew we were coming back. Waited until 2.30pm but no one showed. Tried blowing horn, tried calling, left voice message. Nothing. We made the whole trip out to see these caves and they didn’t even have the courtesy to stay open at their usual time, answer a call, return a call, or leave a note saying they’d be back.
If you’re planning on building your whole trip around this site don’t get your hopes up. They may not be be open.
On a side note I called the day before to see if I could buy tickets in advance. They told me just show up.
FYI website, TCI and the Trust all say the entry fee is $20. If this is not accurate they...

Read moreIt was difficult to figure out the hours, and we were unable to make contact with anyone via phone, so we drove over and hoped for the best. There were two employees: one to handle prep and the other to give the tour. The guide gave us each a handheld flashlight and had us follow him into the cave. There are bats, guano, cockroaches (that eat the guano), and spiders (that eat the cockroaches) in the cave. The floor is slick and smooth in places; I’d recommend sturdy footwear. There is no wind in the cave; the air is hot and stale. That said, the cave was awesome!! The bats were very active, and we could see and hear them flitting around and roosting. We saw a crab scuttle across the floor and some shellfish in a still pool. The tour guide was chatty and knowledgeable....
