Google maps will get you there (mostly). A good chunk of the road says it's closed, but it wasn't blocked. We went in June when it was dry. I could easily see the road in being impassable when it was wet. Larger clearance vehicles would serve well, but weren't required.
Snorkeling is great around the 2 closest Cays, but be careful out past the second cay. The current picks up and boats sometimes go between 2 and 3.

Especially the road near the lake, because there are lots of overgrown trees leaning into the road and a super deep pot hole along the way... definitely...
