The Kapkuro bandas are simple and inexpensive. We didn't have high expectations but we were pleasantly surprised by having electricity and even instant showers. Our banda, Blue Monkey, had a refrigerator but it might be the only one. So if that is a priority for you inquire in advance to book that one. There is nothing like waking up to see water bucks, zebras and baboons right outside the door to your banda. That having been said you must keep your door closed or else you might get unexpected visitors. The baboons tried to push the door open a few times. They would also jump onto the window sills and peek in. There were no chairs or tables in the room or for sitting on the verandah. We were told that the baboons destroyed them 😳. When we inquired about the chairs they brought us some to use. There were no lids to the pots/sufurias but probably if we had asked they would have given us some. The staff was helpful and friendly. Read moreIts park in western part of the country. One of the access gates is Chorlim Gate in Endebess approximately 30km from Kitale. You will need a 4*4 vehicles for easy access during the rainy season. Otherwise during the dry season it ok with most cars. What to see; the park has rich wildlife; Elephants , Zebras and even waterbucks welcome you at the gate.

You can do a complete climb up in 3-4 days to Koitobos peak(4221m) or even cross over to uganda to access the highest peak 4321m Wagagai Peak and exit through Mbale in Uganda. This may take about 6-7 days. Remember a handover from Kenya guides to ugandan guides and porters is required. You must also have your passport stamped at Suam border point before you start the climb.
