Read moreSo here goes, I booked a gazelle room on booking.com and attached were the photos of the room i expected to enter... I entered a room that was plain white, a picture of a lion and nothing else. It was plain, no decor. No energy and looked like my first studio i ever rented in the uae 🫣😅
Upon entering reception, I was told to sit and others who had entered after me were checked in before myself and my family. The enthusiasm of being in a zoo and checking in hotel was zero. Not even helped from the team of concierges when they saw me have 4 bags, a pushchair. I'm not going to let my wife carry anything now am I? Tut tut guys.
Anyways, dropped the bags in the room after waiting around 20 minutes and thought nothing of it.
The zoo was the best part, seeing animals being taken cared for and just going about the grounds was nice until I reached the giraffe cafe where I had a coconut sorbet.
Fast forward no more than 2 hours and I am violently vomitting in the bathroom to the point even the neighbours asked if I was OK. I had gotten food poisoning and well i suffered 16 times vomitting. Not a nice experience as I'd been away travelling for work so I thought to book my wife and son a overnight stay. I was trying to hold it together then my wife said khalas we are going home.
I went to reception told them I'd contracted food poisoning and the employee had no remorse, empathy or even human interaction. Ok sorry to hear, have a nice evening is what I got.
Shocked, I walked off and the concierge grabbed my bags as he had finished his shift, he noticed i wasn't well and even watched my vomit more around the bushes (in a bag I had) offered to drive us home.
We drove home with several stops on the highway for me to vomit.
It took till Tuesday (I stayed saturday) for mamagement to get back to me after I whatsapp'd them about this situation and requesting a refund for the overnight stay yet a deducted price as we entered the zoo. Fair is fair.
"We are still investigating the matter"
I received no refund yet an upgrade and 50% discount on my next booking.
Guys, in all honesty who would return to a business who lacked in the basics of human interaction...

The giraffe rooms also have different types of rooms, the one with giraffe view is more expensive, and the one on the side (slightly cheaper) I preferred the room without the full giraffe view, as there was some extra privacy on the side rooms, and I loved the water feature infront of our room.
The Resort rooms start from 500AED depending on type and season. Rates are without breakfast. we had a microwave and mini bar fridge in our chalet, we made breakfast in the room.
Please check with hotel on pricing for exact room type you require.
