It is advisable to carry a water bottle and sun.

The food glorious festival which takes place for about a month is perhaps the most crowded times at the beach and a huge number of people participate in the proceedings. The walk which is a famous walk down innumerable food stalls from French street foods to local delights is a must-visit place here. The park here also poses as a great tourist attraction where visitors can relax swimming or playing sports like Volleyball etc.

How To Reach

Jumeira Beach is a white sand beach that is located and named after the Jumeirah district of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on the coast of the Persian Gulf. It stretches along the coast south of the city's historic district to the junction with The Palm Jumeirah and terminates between the southern end of the Jumeirah Beach Residence (adjacent to the Dubai Marina district) and the port facilities at Jebel Ali.

The adjacent districts to the beach include Jumeirah (1, 2, and 3), Umm Suqeim (1, 2, and 3), and Al Sufouh, though colloquially, this entire string of neighbourhoods and districts from the southern edge of Kerama to the terminus of the Palm Jumeirah at Knowledge Village is sometimes referred to as the Jumeirah Beach Road area.

The beach and its frontage feature large hotels, resorts, and housing developments, including the Burj Al Arab (Arab Tower) hotel, Wild Wadi Water Park, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and the old-style Madinat Jumeirah, a hotel and shopping complex. My wife and I returned to JBH after a 2 year hiatus largely due to Australian travel restrictions. Prior to this we’d been annual visitors, stopping off on our return trip from the UK to Brisbane, Australia.

We were keen to test the “new normal” experience at JBH to aid our decision making ahead of a potential further trip and extended stay later in the year.

While it did, thankfully, almost feel like a trip down memory lane in terms of the warm welcome, exemplary service, quality of room and facilities, and vast choice of restaurants and amenities, there were a few very minor niggles that, if addressed, would help restore the venue to its proud former glory as we remember it.

Without overblowing the importance, but not ignoring the fact that JBH’s appeal lies in its relatively high-end exclusivity, we felt the following “issues” lent themselves to a spot of attention:

Main pool hours - while we were there the pool closure time was listed as 7pm. Pool staff were packing up and congregated ready to finish for the day not long after 6:30pm

Pool bar ambience - the choice of loud “doof doof” and reggae type music was unbefitting and a far cry from the chilled-out, relaxing vibe we’d grown accustomed to over the years. That said, I’m adult enough to acknowledge that my musical preferences are not shared by everybody. It also kind of felt as though the pool bar area had been neglected - empty shelves and tired looking pumps.

As I write this, I realize that the above are very minor in the scheme of things, but nevertheless I felt they were worth mentioning if JBH strives for impeccable service.

With the “bad” stuff out of the way, it’s only fair that I mention the “good” stuff:

Reception was warm and welcoming and check-in was slick - even at 3am.

Luggage handling was efficient and polite.

Room was exquisite - clean, comfortable, great view

Choice of restaurants was good (but not as much variety as in previous visits).

Pool service was exceptional. A special mention to Sanjeev who went over and above to look after us. Say Hi to Bishnu for us 😀

Breakfast - friendly, efficient service and excellent, wide-ranging selections of food.

To summarize, our experience was ~ 90% of what we had grown to be accustomed to. We’re living in strange times and this should be commended.
