This is where everything started✨ For some people traveling is just showing off and pictures. However for me it’s much more than that. Besides my love for getting familiar with new cultures and new ways of thinking, I also love to learn about the history of each place. That’s why I chose to travel 1:30 hours away from the center of Abu Dhabi to Al Ain, known as the Garden city because of its palm groves and natural springs. There is one more important reason I chose to explore this city though. It’s the fact that it was the birthplace of Sheikh Khalifa who was the founder of the UAE. Qasr Al Muwaiji was the actual home of the ruling Al Nahyan family and also a place for meetings and gatherings. Inside the fort you almost felt like you were part of this important family because apart from the museum’s exhibition, you could visit the actual places that Sheikh Khalifa grew up accompanied by oral narrations about his life too. @visitabudhabi #VisitAlAin #TheTimeIsNow #GetAwayToAbuDhabi #InAbuDhabi #middleeast #travelgoals #travelmore #beautifuldestinations #earthpix #travelawesome #epiclocations #travelbucketlist #reelsinstagram #travelreels #travelinspiration #sheexplores

Qasr Al Muwaiji has played an important role in the history of the United Arab Emirates and represents a fine example of early 20th century mudbrick architecture. It was built in the time of Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Zayed the First (r. 1855–1909) and his son, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. Later it became the home and administrative base for the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the UAE, when in 1946 he became the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region. His eldest son, the late H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was born at Qasr Al Muwaiji two years later and spent much of his youth there, learning from his father. North West Tower Qasr Al Muwaiji It was here in the rooms located in NW Tower where H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the second president of UAE (2004-2022) spent much of his childhood. On 4 January 2010, the world's tallest man-made structure, originally known as Burj Dubai, was renamed the Burj Khalifa in his honour. The Three towers The towers at the three corners (NE, NW and SE) served purpose of protecting the settlements and Muwaiji oases from roaming bandits. In times of attack the large central courtyard was used to shelter the people from raiders.

So I had My Visit here , Eventhough the Site was beautifully Constructed with Modern Heritage Theme To it , It still wasnt that great since it lacks activities or things to look at . Arabs Has a very enriched Cultured, and Many things could have been brought up in a Heritage place like this , example could include like they could have enlightened us with the music they used to hear , types of dresses they used to wear , Traditional Food that was popular at that time and even could be the more details of their social customs and their way of hospitality.. All this place has was screens to read of and Rooms to look at ,Nothing more interesting ... Hopefully they make good use of this beautiful site and enrich us with more customs and traditions in future cause we will be enlighten to understand and appreciate Arab Culture More 🙏

Recently opened the previous year it gives an interesting insight in His Highness Sheikh Khalifa’s birth place and early years as well as Al Ain history ... good interactive computer displays as well as the residence he grew up in ... great black and white video of Sheikh Zayed with his people at a camel race as well as amazing footage of him driving a large American “ Cadillac” in the dunes as if it was a 4WD !!! Staff here are very helpful and give you lots of historic reading information upon arrival, but there also many touch screen displays to give you variety on obtaining new knowledge. Seek outside for the best snaps with the water and palm trees in the backdrop. You'll need 90 minutes to fully appreciate the influence here not just on Al Ain but on the whole of the UAE... Closed On Mondays

The world class example for How to maintain a Historical Site. In my debut visit I've surprised by the beauty of this historic monument. In the evening with the lighting arrangement I thought I was standing this place before a century. Water flowing structures in the outside of the fort is marvellous. Better to read the information engravings installed in the surroundings for better understanding about the history of the fort and site. I feel great by visiting Qasr Al Muwaiji than visiting the Burj Khalifa. Must visit place to know and enjoy the arab architecture.

I enjoyed this visit. This is the fort where the ruling family of Abu Dhabi resided in the early days. The founder of the UAE was born in this fort. It has interesting facts about Abu Dhabi's Nahyan Royal family. The family moved to Abu Dhabi City from Al Ain after oil was discovered in Abu Dhabi. It's interesting to see the architecture style and the building materials used. There are mud bricks and date palm trunks split in quarters for use as rafters and reeds and clay put on top of that. There are very thick walls for protection and insulation from the heat.
