Read moreI want to start off by saying that I usually avoid visiting animal parks at all costs due to the poor conditions that the animals are often forced to live in, but as someone who has loved crocodiles since I was a child, I had to give this place a visit even though I was very worried that I would be heartbroken. To say that it was a wonderful experience would be an understatement.
This park does not cater to tourists or people who view animals as playthings. They do not treat the animals like entertainment. From the first glance it was obvious that this park is dedicated to the wellbeing and convenience of the crocodiles. It is built to ensure that the crocodiles feel safe and at home. The crocodiles are not captured from the wild, instead they are bred in batches specifically to raise in this environment.
Some people are complaining about the park being boring due to the crocodiles not moving much, but that is the thing, you get to see these majestic creatures swimming, sunbathing, interacting with each other and just living their life.
The staff were all extremely helpful and patient. They enthusiastically answered my questions. They were making jokes and overall being pleasant people.
Furthermore, the park offers a unique learning experience. So much information is posted about the crocodiles all over the park with beautiful illustrations. The paragraphs are well-written and clearly given a lot of thought and research. You get to see crocodile skeletons, embryos, a clear explanation of their anatomy and so much more. There is also general information about evolution and other species of reptiles and even dinosaurs.
For me, visiting the park was worth every penny. I want to sincerely thank everyone involved in the development of this park for not making the crocodiles miserable for profit. Thank you for taking care of them and prioritizing their needs. I wish all the animal parks in the country followed the same standard that you have set.
Just one side note: please consider adding more crocodile themed products in the gift shop. I was really looking forward to buying something but most of the items were unrelated to crocodiles.
In conclusion, if you are considering visiting this park, please do not hesitate. Go with a curious and open mind and you will definitely have a...
Read moreI recently visited Dubai Crocodile Park on April 19th, 2023, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with this remarkable facility. Boasting a diverse population of approximately 180 adult crocodiles and over 50 juveniles, it was fascinating to witness their diligent efforts to collect all eggs and ensure they hatch in a controlled environment.
The park features four interconnected, sizable ponds. Upon purchasing your ticket, you will be led to the large open pond area where numerous crocs can be seen basking in the sun. The indoor museum is next on the tour and houses several genuine and replica fossils, egg incubators, and juvenile crocs below the age of one. The upper pond is where female crocs lay their eggs, and visitors can observe the aquarium, which is home to juveniles shorter than 2.5 meters in length. At the end of the tour, visitors can purchase souvenirs at the on-site store; however, the prices are relatively high.
One of the most notable aspects of the park is its accessibility for those in wheelchairs, with toilet facilities available at multiple locations. Additionally, the knowledgeable and well-trained staff were always on hand to explain interesting facts about the crocodiles, making the experience even more memorable.
Tickets for adults cost AED 95, children below the age of 12 are charged AED 65, while children below three can enter for free. The entire facility can be covered in about an hour, and it's worth noting that all food and beverage outlets were closed during my visit due to ongoing construction.
I would highly recommend visiting the park an hour before sunset for the best experience, as it can be challenging to see the crocodiles in the dark, even with ample lighting. Tuesdays and Fridays are the best days to visit since that's when the crocs are fed. Although there's currently no confirmation whether visitors can feed the crocs, I remain hopeful that this will be an option in the future.
Overall, I found Dubai Crocodile Park to be a fantastic facility, especially for children. It's an excellent initiative towards increasing the crocodile population while also contributing to research. Thank you for an...
