Yesterday my father and I had the pleasure of visiting and enjoying the Suaidi Pearls experience. This review is from the both of us … Having been caught up in traffic on our way to the location, we were most concerned about whether the boat would leave without us but after receiving a quick call from a lovely gentleman to check we were on our way they very kindly waited for us. The other two passengers were very gracious about waiting also, which we really appreciated. We were introduced to our guide for the day, Taki (my apologies if the spelling is incorrect) and taken to the boat where it was noticeably clear that our safety was important as we were guided where to watch our step (or mind our heads). The journey began and we were offered refreshments – Arabic coffee, sweet treats and a delicious fruit salad trifle (a popular dish during Ramadan and Eid). We were not expecting this, and it was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. During the trip we learned about the Hajar mountain range which provided a stunning backdrop to our trip. Dad and I had in fact been to the peak of this mountain range (Jebel Jais) a few days prior, so it was a wonderful opportunity to increase our understanding of this famous landmark – and to discover the Oman is located on the other side. We were also advised to keep our eyes open for the large turtles often spotted swimming in the area. Unfortunately, I was not lucky enough to spot one – perhaps next time when I bring other guests to visit. We arrived at what seemed like a floating classroom with multiple learning stations. More refreshments (tea / water) were offered to ensure all guests remain hydrated in the heat as well as plenty of fans circulating the air for our comfort. Each station had different information to share and was displayed in both Arabic and English. The history of pearl farming was fascinating, and our guide was very engaging. It was clear that he was deeply knowledgeable, and we really enjoyed his presentations at each station. A tour of a traditional pearl diving boat revealed historic maps and equipment used in yesteryears. We learned about how pearl divers navigated their way to diving locations and the various roles that were played in the operation. We came away with a whole new appreciation of the value of pearls as we learned that it takes 3 years to grow a cultured pearl – and that only 60% of the farmed oysters produced. We enjoyed seeing the various stages of the process and it was exciting to see an oyster opened to reveal a pearl right before our eyes – a magical moment for sure. The trip back was very relaxing and a lovely opportunity to chat with our boatmates whilst taking photos of the beautiful environment that surrounded us. The only disappointment with the whole trip is that we didn’t get the opportunity to properly thank our wonderful guide. We thought he was returning to the office with us but before we knew it, he had departed on another trip. We would very much have liked to have warmly thanked him personally for the excellent job he did as we both genuinely enjoyed the experience. A small tip was left for him with the gentleman at the desk as a token of our great appreciation. Dad and I had a fabulous trip and both of us would absolutely recommend this experience to others – in fact I will be back later this year when my son comes to visit. Fantastic job Suaidi Pearls – most...

The boat ride to the pearl fishing site was absolutely breathtaking. The serene waters, stunning views, and peaceful atmosphere made it a journey to remember. Adding to the experience, we were treated to traditional Emirati hospitality with freshly brewed coffee and sweet dates—a thoughtful touch that made us feel warmly welcomed. Later in the tour, we were also served a selection of fresh fruit, which was refreshing and added to the overall enjoyment.

Read moreIf you are visiting Rak this is a must do experience. Upon arriving at the pick up location we were welcomed and sat in a beautiful reception while we waited for the boat departure. Punctually we were escorted to the boat, which was large and very comfortable and we were swiftly on our way to the Pearl farm. After about 20 minutes, we arrived at what I could describe as a floating house. We were once again greeted by the staff, and the tour began. The gentleman conducting the tour was absolutely flawless, his character, demeanor and knowledge was perfectly fitted for the information that he shared with us. We learned so much about the history of Pearl fishing in the UAE, and how it led up to pearl farming. We were given a comprehensive breakdown of each and every step involved in Pearl farming, including the passion that still exist among the people behind this business. Throughout the experience, we felt sense of calmness in a deeper appreciation for nature, as we looked around, couldn’t help but feel how the entire surrounding was functioning as one. The calm sees the mangroves was a beautiful side. we got to see different types of pearls from natural ones and how they actually farm them. It is no easy task. We were served snacks and water throughout the time over there. it is worth mentioning that the team are all on the same page when it comes to sustainability and protecting the environment. We had a great time and we highly recommend visiting Al...
