Read moreIt is a beautiful mosque, masha’Allah. However, I am nothing short of disappointed.
I came to the Sharjah Mosque not as a tourist, not for photos or architecture unlike the ample lot, but to bow my head before Allah. I came fully modest, fully covered, except for a headscarf. A mistake, I’ll admit, but one I hoped would be met with mercy, as is the nature of our Deen.
Instead, I was turned away.
Not because the rules were gently enforced, but because an arrogant security guy stood at the gate creeped up & stopped me. When inquired as to why, he said: “We don’t keep scarves anymore. People steal them.” As if the solution to petty theft is to bar women from prayer. As if the fear of loss justifies denying a believer entrance to sujood. As if their fear of fabric mattered more than my fear of missing a moment in His presence.
They pointed me to a sign that said “modest clothing necessary”, with no clarity, no courtesy, no provision. And when we asked what made this mosque so special, we were told, “It’s Sheikh Sultan’s mosque.” So what? Are we building palaces now for sheikhs, or masajid for God? Is this the masjid of the Sultan, or the house of Al-Malik, the True King?
This isn’t Islam. This is spectacle.
Let me remind you: the ground belongs to Allah. No ruler, no staff, no authority can claim dominion over a space built in His name, which the appointed individual did. You’ve turned away a Muslim woman, and worse, you’ve done it with pride without offering scarves. But Allah sees. And His house was not made for gatekeepers of status and stone, but for the broken-hearted and God-seeking.
If we continue to build mosques that resemble kingdoms more than places of prostration, the Ummah is headed nowhere. As a Muslim who is working as a mosque’s security, the responsibility lies on /your/ shoulders to streamline paths of other Muslims, or...

The building itself is spacious, with intricate designs that blend traditional and modern elements, making it an inviting space for worshippers. What truly made this stop memorable was the Quran recitation during the Isha prayer. The recitation was nothing short of extraordinary. The voice of the reciter was calm and melodious, and the rhythm of the recitation resonated deeply within the hearts of everyone present. The clarity and emotional depth of the recitation made it feel as if each verse was being conveyed directly to us. It added an extra layer of spirituality to the prayer, enhancing the overall experience. The acoustics within the mosque also played a significant role in amplifying the beauty of the Quranic verses.
