Warning: no castle exists, just the site it once sat. Quite remarkable how you can still see some of the outline, where the gates where, and the original path to it. I just couldn't work out what the mound was from. Has a trig point, explains why they chose this spot.

Well worth a visit for the amazing views in all directions. Please note this is an ancient hillfort - there is no ‘castle’ as such present. The picture in one of the other reviews is actually St Catherine’s chapel which is a short distance away.

Only 3 parking spaces, so you'll need to plan. How to get there. Iron Age hillfort with fantastic views over Portland, Chesil Beach and down to the Devon coast. Historic sites with a lot of 'bumps' to interpret. A wonderful historic ridgeway.

This is an Iron Age hill fort, not a castle as Anna de Burca has said. There is parking, well sort of, room for three cars with a couple of laybys. There are steps around the steepest grades but care is still needed, There are wide ranging views from the top, right over to Portland Bill. But it is a hill fort so is exposed and the wind will get you with full force, especially from the top, which has an OS Trig Point. I'm only giving four stars as the access is a bit tricky, up a steep narrow road...

Interesting place for a short stop that is just off coast b3157 road. From the small car park, you walk up a hill a short distance and do a short loop around the remains of an old hill fort. There are nice views of the coast and surrounding countryside. I visited in September 2023. The sw coast path passes...
