Myself and my cousin visited in the middle of the month, I have been to Lea a good many times over the years, for my cousin it was her first time. As I’m disabled, I entered on my scooter, staff advised how far they thought I would be able to get into the gardens. I did manage a little further than expected but the stone I drove over stopped the scooter. Extremely kind visitors did their best to help but ended up getting further assistance. A kind young man brought me a wheelchair and took me back to my car, then went back for the scooter. A lovely lady from the restaurant checked to see I was ok and if I needed anything more. They couldn’t have been kinder and because of their help I feel quite happy to keep returning. I apologise for not getting the names of my rescuers but I was immensely grateful to all of them. PS… the ploughman’s lunch has always been a must for every visit, it’s still as good as ever! Very many thanks to you...

Lea gardens closes towards end of July through to next March. So check the web site before you set out so you dont have a wasted journey. We did have a nice day and dogs was able to go also the cafe had bowls of water out for dogs so we was pleased they thought...

Note many parts of gardens have steps / steep slopes as was designed over 80 years ago and so stepped parts are not wheelchair accessible and steep slopes depend on chair power (or strength of person pushing the chair). Only reason for 4 instead of 5 is awkward paths - had to leave disabled companion at the cafe while walking the gardens but that historic layout is part...
