The car park (free) at Wacker Quay overlooks a Western offshoot (called Wacker Lake a local name for part of a tidal estuary) of the River Lynher, the footpath that runs North from the car park (often gets extremely muddy) follows part of a narrow guage military railway and ends up just on the Eastern edge of the village of Anthony. For those interested in birdwatching the Winter months (November - March) tend to be most productive. The River Lynher is extremely wide near here so a telescope may be needed, the area once held the biggest numbers of Wigeon/Common Teal and Pintail Duck in the whole of Cornwall 50 years ago, whilst they are still present the numbers today (2025) are more modest.
