This is a brilliant park. Especially for a walk in the woods.

The Walking - The walking is excellent, I went yesterday and the paths were well maintained and well marked. I did a 2.5 mile walk round the edge and went through woodland, past a pond and over the top of some sparse moorland style areas. It was varied and fun. The paths mean there are many accessible routes to take through all the areas and I saw a couple of prams being pushed along the same routes. I went with a dog, it was leads on past the pond but she loved it.

The Cafe - The cafe is dog friendly and rub by volunteers I understand. Great place. Clean and pleasant. Pristine when I was there and there were 6 or 7 well behaved dogs in there. Even better was the fact that on the menu was a doggie sausage and a doggie burger. I had no choice but to get one for the pooch at is went down a treat on her little paper plate. Brilliant value. I had a full breakfast and a coffee. I got plenty to eat at a great price. A good solid meal.

Having told my children about this they want to come as well and we will be back. I hope it stays...

Well well what can I say about this park! I remember when it was called "rokar park" back in the 80s n the kids playground was on the concrete areas .... N the small little football changing rooms...n also i remember a little small country fair there hosted by the late frank haynes! N ashfield council. Then they had the bmx bike course there for absolute ages... that was amazing!! 🚴🚴🚴🚴Then they built the cafe n the playground was altered to a smaller one with a yellow fence around it.... then that was all there for years and then it got took away forever(the smaller playground) ... N the new updated playground got put next to the cafe! ... N I used to be a volunteer for brierley cafe in 2012/2013 ... b4 a disagreement with someone made me leave.... anyway it has lot's of footpaths that go for absolute miles!! all over this area ..one path takes u to tibshelf ponds and tibshelf country park!! ..... My next door neighbour the late kate herrett .. years ago would call it ROLY BOTTOMS!! 😆😆😆 Ha ha ha! On a good note... It has plenty of tracks for walking 🚶 cycling 🚴 and 🏃...

Brierley is one of our favourites as a family. The cafe serves amazing, well priced food with a good vegan range and alternative milks for hot drinks. The play park has been improved and its great for children to practice climbing and balancing. Warning it does get slippy and muddy when it gets very wet but mine love the extra mud! Super dog friendly, though dogs must be in leads around the pond and as its quite high volume of dogs I would recommend reactive dogs stay on leads. There are quieter paths where you can walk dogs who prefer their own space. Saturday at 9am is Park Run which we really enjoy and makes use of the parks circular route. There are well maintained toilets open when the visitors centre is open and right by the cafe. There are also picnic benches by the play oark/cafe and down at the pond for those who wish to...

Fantastic area for dog walks, lots of different paths, not always signposted but it's difficult to get lost. Lots of seats scattered around, very peaceful place. There is a busier area near the lake and the cafe, but you can also find seclusion. Have been here in summer and winter, shaded areas in summer, some muddy areas in winter, but there are also hard pathways. Something for everyone. Large carpark, make sure you put visitors centre into sat nav, as there is a smaller carpark which is on the opposite side and only has 4 spaces. Did spot deer so keep eyes open.

Great place to walk the dogs and let the kids burn off some energy. Large, free, car park available. There is a large playground next to the cafe and other things for kids to do whilst around the park. The park is dog friendly, on leads, with waste bins located around the park. There are different routes to take around the park. Unfortunately, most of the signs that contain arrows no longer have them, so it can be quite easy to lose your bearings. Not our 1st visit, won't be the last. 🙃
