We did the 1 hour animal experience on Saturday, we got to pick what animals was included and we chose goats, armadillos and reptiles.
Kelly was our keeper for the goats and armadillos. We got so close to both species got got to feed them both. Kelly was amazing and answered all of our questions we had about the animals.
We was then passed over to Luke in the reptile area. Luke showed us a lot of their reptiles up close, we got the chance to hold a python and a sand boa. We got a very close look at a chameleon and the blood python. Luke was also amazing and talked all about the reptile’s welfare requirements.
All in all the experience was amazing and I will definitely be booking again to do a full hour in the reptile area with Luke!
We then walked around enjoying all the other parts of the wildlife park. All the animals looked to be very well looked after and all of the animals looked very happy with their enclosures.
We headed over to the bird area for the barn owl talk. This was delivered by Laura who did an amazing talk all about the barn owls, she brought out Ayra so we could get a good close up look at her. Laura told us all about Aryas welfare requirements and about her history. After the talk she stayed to answer all our questions about barn owls and some of the other birds on site.
We will definitely be coming back here...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised at this little place. Bearing in mind, it's part of an agricultural college and not a stand-alone wildlife centre, I think it's bang on the money. I went with my son, and it was a kind of last-ditch something to do type thing. Obviously, don't go expecting any of the big cats or the likes, but you will get the cuties. Meerkat, otters, little monkeys, etc, along with reptiles and a lot of farm animals. It is also home to an arboretum. To me, a tree is a tree tbh, but there are some rare ones, apparently! On the way round, there are plenty of picnic benches for a pause in play. And on the way out, there is a decent size playground, probably up to primary school age suitability. On exiting the centre, you leave via the gift shop, surprise surprise, but in all fairness, it was well priced. My boy got a little stuffed toy for £6. It would easily be double figures elsewhere. I was happy to pay it to see this wildlife centre continue. We spent just short of 3 hours pottering about. I'd imagine depending on your children's attention span, that could differ. I wouldn't say mine is the greatest at doing listen and learn and would rather run around playing tig, but there was enough to hold his interest. I'll be...
Read moreWhat a amazing day! Has a family with 3 children aged 11, 6 and 5 months we love getting outdoors. After searching for a day out I came across here. Read reviews and decided to have a day out. We are so glad we did. Couldn't fault the place at all. Okay it's no Chester zoo (which we have visited) but never the less We still managed to spend a good 6 hours here so a full day out! We went around more then once and the kids kept wanting to go back to different areas. We went to all the talks, behind the scenes which very much extended the day and well worth doing. The park was fabulous and the highlight of the day was for someone who doesn't really like busy and crowded places we had pretty much all the place to ourselves! Definitely a hidden gem. Well loved after, toilets clean and tidy. All animals clean and looked happy. Spend of place for children to look at all animals too and very much up close even for the smaller ones. It was wrist banded so if you did want to leave for lunch and come back it would be fine although we took a picnic and had at the pond. Lovely view! Great photo opportunities. Overall a great day and will certainly...
