Superb forest park
Portglenone Forest Park is a real treasure, especially for locals like us. We're there all the time with our two kids, and it never gets old. There's something for everyone, whether you're after a peaceful stroll or a bit of family fun. There's plenty of open space for the kids to run around. We often bring a picnic and make a day of it, especially in the warmer months. Dog walkers love it here too. There's a real community feel, and you always bump into friendly faces. The paths are well-maintained, and there's a good mix of woodland and open areas. But the real star of the show is the bluebell display in springtime. It's absolutely breathtaking. The whole forest floor turns into this incredible carpet of blue, and the scent is amazing. People come from miles around to see it, and it's easy to see why. Cycling is forbidden but the forest is perfect for jogging or taking the kids / pets for a walk. The forest also provides access to the river Bann. Read moreOnly paid a brief visit while passing by. Having a Forest Service annual car permit, we stopped in to check if worth making a journey for a more lengthy visit. If in the area I would say its great location to come for a walk. Plenty of car parking space and toilet facilities. But from the map the walks weren't very substantial.
