We did the mini moos experience in Feb half term with our 4 y.o.
The positives - Lovely little farm, a nice intimate size for small children to navigate. The animals look happy and well looked after. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The price compared to a lot of similar events was very reasonable (we booked using a Groupon voucher). It is a lovely, rare opportunity to see cows up close and pet them, they are very tame.
The negatives - The cows had recently been moved to their winter grazing area a short drive down the road, and I’m guessing the usual terrain back on the farm is a a lot kinder than this was. If you choose to enter the field with the cows (which is kind of the whole point, in my opinion!) then be prepared for wading through ankle-deep mud. Knee high wellies essential. It is extremely difficult terrain for adults to manage, let alone little feet, and boots get sucked in easily. It wasn’t easy to walk or manoeuvre around which obviously limits the experience and the enjoyment. You would obviously expect not to wear your best shoes on a farm - but this was definitely to the extreme so bare it in mind. Others did not come in suitable footwear. I think this should be stressed more upon booking.
I also asked on the phone when booking if a pram would be OK to bring as we have a newborn, I was told yes. On the day we didn’t actually bring her with us as she was under the weather, but it was a good job we didn’t as I don’t know what on earth we would have done. The mini moos experience, whilst being held in that field, is NOT suitable in any way for a pram or push chair. I can see this has now been changed on the website so I think this may simply have been a case of me booking before the cows had been moved, and maybe the terrain wasn’t anticipated.
The indoor waiting area is absolutely freezing (obviously a barn with no heating, and metal chairs) so little hands will get very cold - we had to wait for a family who were late so our child was frozen to the bone by the time we got to the field. Wrap up extra warm in the colder months. Hopefully in time this part can be spruced up a little bit, get rid of the cold metal chairs, even a patio heater would do wonders.
There looks to be some other brilliant offerings (sheep walking!) and will definitely be back again. The “negatives” above are definitely not enough to put us off, they are simply some pointers for...
Read moreI was looking for something exciting to do in Shropshire for our family weekend together and I wanted to surprise the children (who are all in their twenties btw!). They all love animals and we’re not just surprised, but we all had the best family day out!!
John and Natalie had been so approachable and easy to communicate with. We had to change the day a couple of times and they were so happy to help and they both made sure that our whole family enjoyed every second of the afternoon. John was with us the whole time and shared so much information about the animals and answered all our questions so patiently. We were a family of seven adults and trust me we had a lot of questions!!!
The farm is so well kept and you can see for yourself how happy and well looked after all the animals are. We’d never seen such beautiful and well groomed alpacas ever! The experience of walking the little sheep around the farm had us all in laughs! I could go on and on about how much fun we had.
Once we’d finished our time with the animals we went to the barn and sat down for our nice picnic, with hot drinks supplied by John and Natalie. Be sure to bring some monies for the honesty box, as they don’t charge for any of the hot drinks.
Cant wait to come back or even invite them to bring the animals to our place for next summer. They do events as well.
Thank you so much John and Natalie for a great day out!!! Until...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting an Alpaca farm on 15 April with a group of church friends. It was truly a unique and delightful experience. The farm was nestled in a picturesque rural area, and upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly farm’s owner , John and Natalie who gave us a very warm welcome.
The farm was home to a herd of beautiful and friendly alpacas, who were grazing contently in the fields. The staff member provided us with a brief introduction to the alpacas and their history.
As part of the visit, we were given the opportunity to interact with the alpacas, and I must say, they were absolutely charming creatures. We were able to pet them and feed them, and we even got to take some memorable photos with them. John and Natalie is very patience with us. They let us take as many photos as we want.
Overall, my visit to Frankly Alpaca farm was a truly memorable experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable day out. John and Natalie were welcoming and knowledgeable, and the alpacas were a delight to be around. I left the farm feeling relaxed, inspired, and with a newfound appreciation for these...
