The Wick Country Park — Attraction in Basildon

Lovely place for a walk, perfect for a picnic on a sunny day as lots of open space. Circular walk is fairly short but there are lots of ways to vary your route and make it longer.

There is car parking but this is limited. Have always been able to find a space so far but wonder if this may be more tricky in the summer. All car parking is free which is nice!

Just as a warning, the path is trodden dirt and therefore becomes quite muddy after rain. Would recommend decent walking shoes and would probably not be appropriate for pushchairs or...

This is a lovely park with swings, slides, climbing frames for the kids. The swing park is not a big park but what they have there is plenty to entertain your little ones. It is safe for children to play with parking spaces. If you walk further down the park there are a couple of massive patches of grass with a few picnic tables and a medium size lake with ducks/ geese. I really like this park. No matter how wet the weather is - the gravel paths here are never muddy - meaning you don't need wellies. The bird watching is much better than you might expect. It's great listening to cuckoos in spring, woodland species & ducks in summer & redwings & fieldfare in winter - to name just a few.
