My family and I recently made the mistake of visiting Four Kingdoms, and it was a day we'd rather forget. I had high hopes for a fun-filled day out, but what we experienced was a poorly managed, run-down park that felt more like a chore than a treat.
The first major issues we encountered were the shocking lack of shade and the run-down state of the rides and attractions. It was a hot day, and most of the park is an open expanse with nowhere to escape the sun. There were a few small, overcrowded sheltered areas, but for the most part, we were left to bake. It's a significant oversight for a family park, and it made the day incredibly uncomfortable for all of us, especially the kids. We saw several families struggling to find a spot to cool down, which highlighted a serious lack of consideration for visitor comfort and safety.
The overall state of the facilities was deeply disappointing. Many of the attractions looked like they hadn't been maintained in years. The paint on the rides was peeling, some of the play equipment was visibly worn, and there were even a few rides that appeared to be out of service altogether. To make matters worse, we witnessed staff members on some rides simply going on lunch breaks without any replacements, causing those rides to stop operating entirely. This led to further frustration and disappointment for children eagerly waiting to go on them. The whole park had a tired and neglected feel to it, which was a huge letdown considering the price of admission. It felt like we were paying for a full-day experience, but a good portion of the park was either unusable or just not appealing due to its shabby condition.
The food was another major problem. We were explicitly told that even something as simple as a panini would take over an hour to come out after ordering. There wasn't even a particularly long queue, which made the wait time even more baffling and frustrating. The staff seemed overwhelmed and under-equipped to handle the volume of customers, and the whole operation was a chaotic mess. By the time we were considering ordering, the prospect of waiting over an hour for basic cafe food had completely put us off. It’s unacceptable to have such long waits for simple items, especially with young, hungry children in tow.
Finally, the hygiene was a major concern. The play areas, in particular, were disgustingly filthy. After just a short while playing, our children's hands, knees, and clothes were covered in a visible layer of built-up grime and dirt. It was clear that the play equipment, which is meant for children to interact with constantly, hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. The toilets were also in a dreadful state with a strong unpleasant odor. It made you question the hygiene standards of the entire park, which is a very unsettling thought when you're about to eat.
In short, Four Kingdoms needs a serious overhaul. The lack of shade, unmaintained facilities, staff abandoning rides, absurdly long wait times for food, and poor hygiene made our visit a complete wash. We were so utterly disappointed that we decided to leave early, cutting our visit short to find something else to do in the local area to salvage the day. Save your money and your sanity and find a better-maintained, more comfortable family park for...
Read moreI went with my son in law and 2 year old grandson. As it was Father's Day my son in law was allowed in for free, and he got a Yorkie bar!! That was a good offer. By booking online we saved about £5 after the booking fee, so it was £15 each for me and my grandson. I thought most of the park was really good or excellent, but we had some misgivings, hence the 4 stars. The Dinosaur Land and jeeps, tractor and trailer rides, train by the tractor area, and electric quadbikes were all excellent. The area for younger children with 2 slide activity blocks was very good. Some of the things there, the tubes, the rings and the revolving sticks were in a rather sad state. A good lick of paint and cleaning inside the tubes would not go amiss, and lubricate the revolving sticks so they actually move would be good. However it was fun and my grandson enjoyed climbing and sliding, and there was bark on the ground for a soft landing. The other area for younger children with Paw Patrol emblems was very poor. The helicopter, tractor and diggers didn't work, the ground was gravel, even near the slides, not great for young ones, and we didn't stop there for long. The soft play was for older children, and there was nothing inside for my little grandson. I suggest they install some soft play things, ball pit, small slides and tubes etc for younger children, because if it had rained, we would not have had much for my grandson to play on. Overall, at present, the Park is designed for children of 5 plus, and not so much ( that works!) for younger ones. It could do with a bit of care in these areas, rubbish and discarded bits removed, painting some areas and a bit of TLC. Having said all that, I would say the majority of 4 Kingdoms is excellent, but the toddlers areas need the most attention. Finally, but leaving the best until last, the small train and DARYL was brilliant. The highlight of the day by far. Darryl has such a great way with children and wonderful rapport. My grandson went on the little train at least 12 times, and laughed at all Daryl's antics. He's like a Mr Tumble character, and made our day. THANK YOU SO MUCH, DARYL. We didn't use the cafe, except for cold drinks, as we brought our own food. Also, as it was a humid day, it was very warm in there. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place, but with the comment that it would be good to see improvement in the toddler and youngsters areas, and soft play for them. It wasn't too busy when we went, but with limited cars and seats on the train etc, I can imagine you'd queue a lot at peak times. One price did pay for every activity so that was good too. We had plenty of opportunity to use the different activities, and it was good...
Read moreNot been here before went on wet Sunday February so they are not completely up and running yet so willing to update review in the summer. First impression was have I come in the right place I did think for a minute I was about to drive into a scrap yard but noticed the little car park sign. So in we went. Didn't book because I didn't see anything on the website apart from advance bookings get a discount I may have missed it but it is normally the first thing I look for ruins the spontaneity but oh well. On entry the guy at the entrance was booking in party kids so I gestured to the boy behind so he could book him in but he said me have you booked I said no he said you have to book I said okay so went to get my phone out or leave but he said you can book here at the till let me serve these people first the kid I had already let Infront. So after paying £30 for 2 adults and a child (current price goes up soon) we entered. Didn't have food but lots of people were drinking coffee and getting things delivered in boxes. We went into the soft play first big with a supervised drop slide and coloured mat slide there are tables we did manage to get one, still lots of rubbish around the place but this was being tidied by one person so they were on it. he stayed in there for 20mins then went outside. Looks a bit run down to be honest but being winter I am assuming this is them getting ready for summer and needing to stay open if they want to remain open so looking past the state of the place, what was open for the season was okay. He went on the pedal karts and we watched some people have fun on the tube slides before he spotted the dinosaur trail but then also spotted the ride on cars so he had two goes on them 3 laps they get, then down to the dinosaurs. Where there is a ride on jeep for the kids a huge circuit round the dinosaurs I was impressed there is a bridge to see them come round. Unfortunately the man running them was a bit abrupt and rude to the kids so he let it down a little bit. Train driver was lovely two laps rounds and the tractor ride to see the sheep. There is a bouncy pillow and a few other bits that were not open. Random pirates by the tractors again it looked like a scrap yard. We found the laser tag at the back of the soft play he had a few rounds on that, we will come back in the summer when hopefully everyone open and they have finished their...
