Currently my favourite route up. This is a more interesting route up to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) from Pen-y-Pass. Can make the route harder for a grade 1/-1 scramble by staying to the edge, or escape down to the easier to navigate the path for less technical hiking.

Not a knife edge like Crib Goch, so there's less exposure/scariness, it's one of the less popular/busy route which is nice.

It's fairly challenging at points which makes it fun on a less visible day, and the views of the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Horseshoe and Llyn Llydaw are still great even on those days.

Towards the end this route joins up to the Watkins Path at Bwlch Ciliau, before a final steep scramble up a scree path to the summit.

Roughly 3.5km to reach Lliwedd Bach summit, and 5km to reach the west summit of Y Lliwedd. Nearly 7km to get to Yr Wyddfa summit. Recommend having an OS map (digital or physical) and/or a scrambling guide, especially on a cloudy day. Will help you find those...

First time up Snowden, started at 2:45 am via pen y pass carpark (left after the first lake off the miners path), took 8hours to get back to the car at 11am without stopping via this point and Snowden summit. Extremely challenging in the dark on a moonless night even with literally no wind or rain mid October, I would not recommend this route. Feeling lucky to be alive! Didn't know there was an option for not walking along the ridge, in pitch black with no experience it was...

Amazing views, nice scrambling as easy or as hard as you wish to participate in. But visitors to the area please where proper mountain gear and not sandles or trainers as you become a liability for mountain rescue. Safety comes first. Please take a map and compass plus enough water and food as it's serious proposition for the inexperienced. Whilst I was scrambling up Y Lliwedd somebody asked me where Snowdon was. If you have no map reading skills, youcreally...

Did this as part of the Horseshoe - people talk about Crib Goch being challenging, and that's true, but by the time you get to Y Lliwedd, you're absolutely knackered. Also, the drop off Lliwedd is mich more sheer than of Crib Goch, the call of the void is real... All in all I'm very glad I did the whole horseshoe, as each peak presents a different perspective of this spectacular area. My favourite was Y Lliwedd, least favourite was the descent from Snowdon on Watkins Path...
