Been going to Bolam Lake for years. What a lovely place for a walk through the woods. There's a one way system in place due to social distancing measures. Lots of parking available. It's paid parking but can be paid for with a parking app. It's around 80p per hour. There's plenty of places to go off the route and find a picnic spot. There's a cafe on the route so if you need a few refreshments you're covered. It's great to walk the dogs. You can go outside the lake area an explore the surrounding countryside via the numerous public footpaths. I recommend a trip to Shaftoe Craggs, which is popular...

Went there for the first time in years today. Lake and surrounds are beautiful unfortunately it is plagued by flies. You dare not stop for fear of becoming covered in them in seconds. It was never like this when we visited regularly with the children thirty years or so ago. Then you could happily go out onto the lake in inflatable boats with just a swimming costume on. There is no way I would...

Wonderful and peaceful place to be. Amazing for people who likes to be close to nature. The natural geography of the lake hasn’t been disturbed massively which is always a positive. The lake is home to beautiful swans who are always treat to watch especially if you are having some food :) The walkways are beautiful covered with the tree branches giving it a proper wild look. Loved...

Free parking for the first hour and then it's £2. There is plenty for all of the family to do with walks around the lake, play spaces and wildlife for all to see. The carpark was easy to navigate and the pay and display machines were also simple. The toilets are situated near to the toilets as well as a cafe which has a selection of drinks and food.

If you're looking for a nice little walk in the country it's worth a visit. Only about half an hour walk round the lake and good underfoot so ideal for pushchairs and wheelchair users. There's a charge for parking £2 for the first 2 hours but if you press the green button on the ticket machine the first hour is free 😁
